“Great Weekend at La Scala.”
Reviewed 3 June 2012

I recently stayed at La Scala with a group of friends and our children.

What a great place! The staff were very friendly and helpful with our requests. The rooms were clean and the breakfast typically continental. The nearby restaurant served good local dishes at an acceptable price.

Treviso town centre is about a 15-20 minute walk that is very easy to make.

Would I stay here again ?

Too right.I'm booking again - a great place to stay and thanks to all the staff who put up with us and the children.

The Hotel is located at 6-7 km away from the Airport and there is no connectivity by any public transport. Only means to hire a taxi, which will be 20 Euro as standard. The room is gloomy and poorly lighted. The LCD TV is room is a computer monitor which is considered inadequate.

The hotel has a shopping mall exactly in front. Distance from Triviso station is 12 km and Bus no 1 goes to the hotel and taxi costs 10 Euro by meter.

Average experince and poor location, if one is looking for checking in to catch a flight from the Airport.
Hotel do not have a lift. Resturant is good

Room Tip: Take room only on first floor as hotel dont have a Lift

First we didn't go with very big expectations because of the reviews we've red. Our room was N 55 on the first floor. The room was not big, but very pretty and comfortable. The breakfast was good. The hotel is on a main street but it wasn't that noisy like other people said, if you live in a village though it'll be very noisy for you. Hotel was a little far from the center of the town but we already knew that and the bus N 1 goes directly to the hotel (the driver showed us where to take off). It's also walkable to the city center but if you are used to walking. We went in the beginning of Oct. and the jasmine trees along the road were smelling lovely. The staff is very helpful and speak proper English, which is difficult to find in Italy:) There was some wireless connection but the signal was low and we didn't bother to ask for password. Also there is a nice supermarket just across the street and two pizza restaurants nearby. Overall I think that the hotel is very good for it's prize.

More Hotel Scally than Scala. You don't expect The Ritz for 100 euros a night but you can expect more than this. We had a three person room (though the third bed was just a folding effort) which was right at the top of the hotel in the eaves. That might sound romantic but in reality it was just cramped. It was 34C outside so the room was very hot but it had the world's oldest AC unit which just pushed out warmish air. We resorted to turning it off and opening all the windows to try and get some sleep but were bitten ferociously by mosquitoes. The room was a sea of stained plywood fittings bodged together to "square off" the awkward shape and not particularly clean. We accessed our room via a narrow corridor which had what appeared to be a permanently propped over fire door. Not a good experience - very little effort made by staff who really weren't that friendly. Not recommended.

Although air conditioning and internet access are listed as amenities on Hotel Scala's web descriptions, our rooms had neither. When we protested, the night clerk shrugged and indicated that he did not speak English. We arrived late and passed a sleepless night with unscreened windows opened to the noisy thoroughfare on which the hotel is located, breathing car fumes and listening to motorcycles passing at all hours. By morning I had more than a dozen mosquito bites. The dimly-lit, ill-ventilated bathroom was so small I could barely turn around in it, and the toilet pull snapped off in my hand when I flushed the toilet. The "queen-sized" bed consisted of two hard twin beds pushed together. The best I can say for Hotel Scala is that our rooms were clean, and the breakfast was reasonably good. But for the price we paid, we certainly did not expect such spartan rooms.

We stayed here at the end of March 2011 and really enjoyed our stay - hotel of typical style and of good character. The breakfast was good. Hotel was a little out of town but then we already knew that and were not bothered - the bus drive was easy and the driver showed us where it was. We had a drink in the hotel bar and it was very pleasant - a big fire was lit and a member of staff thoughtfully pointed this out to us (it was round the corner - we didn't even realise it was there) and we were cold having just been on an evening walk. So very warm and welcoming. My only (constructive) comment would be that it would be nice to see a bar and food menu prices on display.

We enjoyed the walk into town and really liked the area, very pretty. We were lucky to be staying when a marathon was taking place around Treviso and some of the streets were closed off - it was a great atmosphere, watched an old car procession, rollerskaters with pushchairs, cyclists and runners whizzing past. We had a really good meal at a nearby pizzeria (on the opposite side of the road) - it was absolutely packed with locals and was really reasonable and very tasty. Portions were huge.

Overall a good stay for a good price.

Just stayed in the Hotel Scala, about 10mins by bus from center of Trevisio. Staff were discreet & very helpful (providing local knowledge, ordering taxis, posting on a cable which I'd left behind, provided free coffees while we waited on taxi etc...).

Hotel is intimate, very clean, excellent bed linen & very comfortable beds. Free wi-fi is available. Breakfast is available for a modest cost. Excellent rates.

Number 1 bus runs from directly outside hotel to train station, via center of Trevisio (you can buy tickets at the bar across from the hotel - €1.20). Venice is then 30mins by train (€9 return - very frequent - every 10/15 mins). If getting the bus from the station to the hotel, ENSURE you cross the road outside of the train station (otherwise you get the number one bus on the other half of it's journey, so they charge you double price)

10/15 minutes to Trevisio airport (Antonio Canova)

Highly recommend this as a hotel to base yourself in, as a visitor to Venice.
