Three of us spent a week in this very cosy apartment in the centre of Treviso. We chose to stay here rather than Venice because we thought it would be nice to leave the crowds behind after a day of intensive sight-seeing in Venice, and also it is unlikely that we would have found such a high level of accommodation at such a reasonable price in that most expensive of cities.

The train station is only 10 minutes' walk from the apartment, and shops, cafes and restaurants are all equally close. Apart from that, Treviso is a beautiful place in its own right, and we spent a very pleasant day here just exploring the maze of streets and squares in the old town.

The apartment itself is situated on the top floor of the building, but there is a small lift which was very welcome, particularly at the end of the day. There are 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, one of which is en suite. There is plenty of hanging and storage space, which is not always the case. The large living room has a dining table and a right-angled seating area which can hold at least four in comfort. The kitchen was well-equipped for the most part, though there was only one power-point for the 3 electrical devices in common use, so we had to keep plugging and unplugging the kettle, toaster and coffee machine, which was a minor irritation. The internet connection was fast and reliable.

There are a couple of reasons why I don't give Casa Bianca 5-star rating. They are both to do with the fact that the apartment is on the top floor, in fact within the roof space. This means that the ceilings slope quite low at the outer edges of the rooms. This is not too much of a problem most of the time, but in the kitchen all three of us banged our heads on the low beams more than once. The area where the coffee machine and kettle are situated is particularly fraught in this respect, as the kitchen table. Of course we soon learned to duck at the appropriate points, but it was a painful lesson! The second slight disadvantage is common to all top-floor apartments, and that is that they can get rather hot. We opened the windows and removed the duvet from our bed, sleeping with just a sheet over us, but later on in the year I imagine that it would be too hot for comfort. However, there is an air-con system, which we didn't try, so perhaps this would not be so much of a problem. And after all, no place is perfect, not even our own homes!

On the whole I can thoroughly recommend the Casa Bianca, both for its merits as an apartment and for its delightful location. I would be very happy to stay there again if I were ever so fortunate as to revisit this beautiful part of the world.
