We had a great meal there after some tapas at Osteria Al Squero. We had the pancetti, tagliatelle, spaghetti vongole and grilled seabass. Tastes may be stronger for some Asians but the flavour signifies their passion. I hope I got the name right but we were waited by Morris a very handsome Italian. We ordered his favorite wine Amarone. You can’t regret that though it is not exactly too cheap. Well it is a vacation so just enjoy a bit more. The tiramisu was ok and Morris/the restaurant was kind enough to give us the alcohol dessert.

I ordered grilled squid and octopus, which was so dry and hard to cut that my knife kept striking the plate. The waitstaff did not make eye contact and seemed quiet harried (they did seem friendly with some tables). It took us 2 hours for a simple meal and most of it was waiting for food or waiting for a check. Would not go again.

Our dinner at Taverns San Trovaso was by far the best meal we had in Venice! Not a fancy place but the food makes up for the lack of ambiance. Don't get me wrong the restaurant was charming. The prices were very affordable, the wait staff was great ! I had a spaghetti and seafood dish and my husband had the eggplant bough were perfection. An appetizer and wine completed the perfect meal. Bon Appitte

In Venice where there are so many tourist traps and mediocre restaurants we were happy to find Taverna San Trovaso.

Service is excellent and friendly with staff making us feel very comfortable. Pasta dishes run around 15 euro which is fair for the quality they serve. We ordered 3 different pasta dishes - 2 were very good (eggplant with red sauce and mixed seafood). Other reviewers recommended the scallops and basil but I didn’t care for it. I found it to be dry and bland.

Grilled vegetables were good (9 euro for double serving). Mixed salad was OK (5 euro). Table next to us ordered the prosciutto and melon and that looked really good.

There is a coperto of 2 euro per person and water is 2.5 euro for .75 liters.
