The food is excellent the taste is good and served in a fast pace. In June the wind was still playing a role in the temperature so after one hour it get chilly. Best is to bring a jacket and wear something long . It would be a waist to miss this nice food because of the cold

Choose your table either inside the restaurant, outside on the promenade or on the ponton over the water what I recommend in summer time. The service is very friendly and attentive and the menu locally inspired. I had sardines "in soar" and veal liver venetian style, delicious! And don't forget the Tiramizu! May be Venice is a little bit more pricey, but it's worth it.

Had a nice lunch away from the bustling crowd of St Marco. Had the greek and the Cesar salads both which were excellent. Service is fantastic and wait time was non existent. It’s about a 30 min walk from st marco square.

The view is perfect. I had the mussels and clams, it was delicious and plentiful. My daughter had the grilled octopus. She liked mine much better. The crusty bread was perfect for dipping in the clam/mussel juice.

A trip to Venice should include a dinner at one of the waterfront restaurants along the Zattere. Why? The bustle of the Zattere, the view over to Giudecca, and the sunsets. So, which one? Riviera may have the best food but is very expensive and a complicated menu. OKE Pizza is a bit pedestrian and jammed tables. Zattere Pizza is good enough, but right next to the vaporetto stop. So, on balance we go with La Calcina. It is associated with a nice hotel, which has a very pleasant dining room and a few tables on the "street." But one goes there for the waterside tables. The advantage of La Calcina is that it is the last restaurant along the Zattere walking south (away from the cruise ship terminal), so it is not too busy along the Zattere there but enough to be interesting. It's not cheap by any means, the food is very good, albeit not best in town, and the service is top notch. The overall experience and setting is hard to beat anywhere else along the Zattere, and the Zattere itself cannot be replicated anywhere else in Venice. When we have dined out with friends briefly stopping through Venice, this is where we take them. In fact, on our recent three-week stay, by sheer coincidence some friends from Austin showed up in Venice and we were able to catch dinner. I reserved La Calcina, which their personal guide said was a great choice for them given they had only two nights in town. We've dined there for dinner probably a half dozen times over the past few years and have never been less than very pleased. I give it a 5 (more like a 4.5) given the overall experience. Probably only a 4 on the food for price alone, but that's Venice.
