“What a gem”
Reviewed 5 July 2014 via mobile

What a wonderful find. This gem of a hotel is situated in Campo Santa Formosa just far enough from the touristy part of the city but close enough, tens minutes walk from Rialto and St Marks Square, to make it the most ideal spot to discover the wonders of Venice. The rooms were well appointed and spotless. The free wifi worked perfectly. The breakfast was a buffet style affair and was good. Wish there was an option of some tables outside however as it would of been nice to have a coffee and watch the world go by in the sun rather than being inside.
All staff were so friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. They recommended a private boat trip which picked us up from outside of the hotel and took us around the sights Venice for an hour. It was €140 Euros but it actually was better than the gondola ride which was €80 for 30mins and we actually got a bottle of Prosecco to drink on our way round too.
They will also recommend and book restaurants for your evening meal which is a must as you will find it very hard to get into any good restaurant by just turning up.
The only downside was the trip to Murano. The hotel puts on a free boat trip over to the Island to see the glass making factory. We got there and an English speaking guide showed us into the factory to view the artists blowing glass. It was fascinating, however, after five minutes the guide ushered us into, basically, fourteen showrooms full of Murano glass for sale. He was extremely pushy and rude and we came to the conclusion that he was probably on commission. As we didn't want to spend €60,000 he told us that we could get on the boat back to Venice and he walked off! I do want to stress though this had nothing to do with the hotel. Our recommendation would be to get a water bus ticket and travel to Murano and Burano on your own. We got a day ticket for €18 and you can jump on any Water bus and travel around Venice and get to the Islands.
I want to thank The Ruzzini Palace for making our trip to Venice memorable and very special. We will definitely be returning to your wonderful hotel.

Dear Mr. Domidoos,
Many thanks for all the good suggestion. We are sad that you got a bad impression about the free Murano visit….in any case, we are glad that you appreciated all our efforts trying to make your stay the most enjoyable! Hopefully you’ll be back with us!

Stayed here for two nights and can report a great hotel in excellent location, great staff and a lovely breakfast buffet. Room on 4th floor was great too. This was a palce years ago and many old features have been tastefully kept.

Room Tip: As high as possible overlooking the square

If you are thinking of going to Venice and want an excellent hotel in the centre of Venice but away from the crowds then the Ruzzini Palace is the Place.
It is a gem of a Hotel, it has been so wonderfully restored, that the room and hotel has achieved something very special, in giving it the feel of a modern hotel but without loosing the centuries old features that form part of the hotel. Our room at the top of the hotel overlooked the square, and was modern in feel but still managed to incorporate old beams - just magnificent, peaceful, great views and very comfortable incorporating a sleeping area and a rest area.
The whole hotel is wonderful, it's a relatively small hotel about 25 rooms, which means it has great service, very helpful staff, wonderful breakfast and the location is only just over 5 mins to either St Marks or the Rialto but off the well beaten tourist routes, so you get some peace and quite (Quite an achievement in Venice).
The only drawback is that from the nearest Vaporetto stop you have to cross three bridges, however if you are feeling flush it does have it's own water taxi stop, so you can do a door to door water taxi, this also means that you can sit in reception and watch Gondolas go past.

We visited the Ruzzini Palace Hotel for 4 nights in June as part of a belated honeymoon.

We flew into Marco Polo and took the Water Bus to San Marco. After a little bit of walking around and asking some directions we found the hotel. Checking in was quick and painless.
We were given a map which you will need during your stay.
A few days before we had emailed the hotel asking for a room with a nice view. We were given room 200 which is on a floor of it's own. The rooms are traditional style and of good size.
Bathroom was of good size. The room had a view of the canal at back of the hotel. The room on a night was very quiet and we slept really well on memory foam pillow.

Breakfast was of good quality and offered cereal, pastries, yogurts, cold meats and fresh fruits.

Coffee was of very good quality as you would in Italy.

The bar was good value and the beer was reasonable price compared to other locations in the city.

Staff were very friendly polite and were happy to answer any questions.

One of the members of staff on the reception sorry that i didn't get his name Guy with the beard was very helpful and had a good sense of humour.

This hotel is great for people who want a good base in a quiet area but walking distance from the main sights Venice has to offer

The Ruzzini Palace was where we kicked off our honeymoon, and we had a wonderful stay. We took a private water taxi from the airport directly to the hotel entrance (recommended, although pricey). We had booked a deluxe room, but were very kindly upgraded to a junior suite which was wonderful (on the 1st floor, overlooking the piazza), plus a complimentary bottle of bubbles to kick off the honeymoon in style! This was very much appreciated as it made us feel really special.
The hotel is a wonderful mix of historic old features (high ceilings, exposed beams, silk wallpaper, marble floors) and modern touches (great bathroom). The staff were always very helpful and friendly. The location is perfect for exploring Venice...close enough to all the major sites but not too close.
The only slightly annoying thing was that there was no iron to borrow, but I think this may be a fire regulation as we had the same issue in Rome.

Room Tip: I would recommend a room overlooking the piazza rather than the canal.

Dear Mr. Josiejo,
Thanking you for your kind article, we are glad that you enjoyed so much your honeymoon with us while in Venice, as far the free room upgrade, the bottle of prosecco etc….As you said and we probably explained you, ironing can be done in our outside lundery at extra cost (as well for wash & dry), but not in the rooms (safety rules). Wishing you’ll be back once more…for another unforgettable stay!

Stayed for one night after flying from Atlanta to Venice (I had that point of perspective because it is a 9+ hour flight). We arranged through the hotel to be met at the airport. The driver took us to a water taxi, them directly to the hotel. Beautiful. They even brought us coffee and orange juice when we arrived. They also happily held our luggage until our room was ready. The hotel is quiet while centrally located--it is easy to walk anywhere from here. We stayed in one of the deluxe rooms, and it is quiet and beautiful. Our room overlooked the plaza, which I wasn't too sure about. But, I loves it! I took a nap an awoke to the sounds of some boys playing soccer (Think: "luigi...luigi...." Followed by what I am guessing was "pass the ball to me".) I loved it! Although there is a restaurant and bar in the hotel (I think it is pretty pricey) we are going to pass and go find breakfast in one of the million little shops in Venice. Although I can't hear any noise, I can look out this morning and see the city coming alive--they are setting up a vegetable stand below in the plaza, and men are sweeping. We would definitely stay here again!

Dear Kansas,
Thank you for your kind review, we are very happy that you appreciated all our efforts, in particular the transfer from the airport to the Hotel (half by car & half by boat). Just a little point out on the Hotel amenities, just to avoid any confusion, we don’t have a restaurant but only a “bar”…and as per many other comments, rather affordable.
We are happy that you liked a lot the special atmosphere of our House. Wishing you’ll be back…Thanks!

Stayed two nights in a standard room at Ruzzini Palace which is an old private palace redone to a beautiful quaint hotel. Staff is outstanding. Location is perfect to be just out of the way yet 5-10 min to St Marks and Risk to bridge. Highly recommend this spot. Room rate included a breakfast down in restaurant which was better than we expected with eggs and bacon, meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, homemade yogurt, Danish pastries, amazing coffee. Loved this hotel!

Room Tip: Rooms not overlooking the square are more quiet.
