I just stayed at this hotel with my girlfriend for one night. We booked it last minute on lastrooms and got a room for $100 (supposedly reduced from $380). (UK Sterling actually, but I cannot find a Sterling sign on this keyboard). I have no complaints about this hotel, but feel that all the 5 star reviews are a little generous. Yes the location is great, but I don't think the hotel is all that special. The room was a decent size (we didn't get a canal view) and the bathroom was nice and modern (the shower was pitiful but I guess plumbing isn't the best in old Venice so that might be the same everywhere). The bed was two twins pulled together, but it was still comfortable and not a problem. The room was nice, not that different from the photos on here, but I wouldn't say it was 5 star worthy. We arrived at midnight and left after breakfast so didn't really speak to the staff much, so perhaps the service was lovely, but we didn't really have long enough there to notice anything different from any other hotel in their attitude.

Breakfast itself was standard fare, though the blood orange juice and apricot croissants were very nice - though the coffee wasn't so great and the fruit a little tired. Actually the only not amazing coffee i've had so far in Italy, though I think if you asked the waitress would make you something better than the stuff in the jug. There was nothing special about the breakfast, nothing Italian or different from what you'd get anywhere.

So as I say a perfectly serviceable no frills hotel, and maybe I am expecting too much, but for $100 it seemed a little pricey for just bed & breakfast (no swimming pool or any other facilities) though in fairness Venice isn't cheap so it was fine, but if i'd actually paid $380 then i'd be really upset. It was fine for the night and I have no complaints, just don't expect anything grand.

Venice however is one of the most amazing cities i've ever visited and would definitely go back and spend more time there. I would stay at this hotel again if I was in a rush, but I'd look for something better first if I had more time to plan.

We were aware that there is much to experience in Venice. Giovanni, and Jason, answered our specific menu and sightseeing questions with ease, humor and accuracy. We were able to make the most of our two days there, we ate well and when in the hotel we felt comfortable, welcome and were able to rejuvenate for the next event.

Had a fabulous 3 night stay at this lovely hotel. Exceptionally clean ,very friendly staff and terrific central location
Ivan greeted us on our arrival and showed us to our room and delivered our bags moments later .Nothing was too much trouble for him .
There was high water on our first evening which did catch us out but will be one of the most memorable moments .We roared with laughter when we went paddling !!!! Even the waiters came out to see what was so funny .
Jason was also very helpful and witty .You couldnt fault any of the staff .Lovely continental breakfast including ham, salami, cereals ,bread cakes, eggs cheese and plenty of hot tea and coffee .The orange juice was delicious made with blood oranges
We booked through Late Great Deals /Travel Republic and saved hundreds .
Overall a brilliant hotel only one little niggle is the bar area was being refurbished but we were so worn out from sightseeing it wasn't any real problem
Had a fabulous trip to Murano,Burano and Torcello .Very hard sell in Marano but a lovely glass blowing demonstartion .Burano had multicoloured houses and famous for its lace
Torcello was our favorite though !!! We only reached thr first cafe and Prosecco on draught and a huge piece of Tiramisu what more could you want .I did hear the churches were spectacular but we didnt reach that far lol
If you ever get the chance to visit Venice I would very highly recommend the Hotel Dell Opera

First of all when we got there check in was smooth and easy! The concerige brought our bags to the room for us so was relaxing from the get go! Told us if we needed anything they were downstairs! One of the days the canal flooded and we didnt expect it and the hotel had wellies for when this happened and told us when to expect to go down which was to a tee!

The location was perfect because you are 5 mins walk from san marco and its in a really quiet area. There is a wine bar beside the hotel which is good if you want a late night drink also! and its reasonably priced! Coming from the airport waterbus it is a 5 min walk and a bit tricky to find at first but thats just venice full stop until you get your bearings!

The room was very clean and looked very modern which is why i booked it and what you see in the photos is what you get.
There is not one bad thing i can say about this place and if i plan to go back to venice i will definatly be staying here again!!

Just back from four wonderful days in Venice. Hotel dell'Opera is located 5 minutes from St MArks and another 5 from Academia, a superb location for a Venice visit. A warm and friendly welcome at the hotel and a complimentary upgrade was the perfect start. The spotless room was really fantastic, overlooking the canal with antique fixtures and beautifilly decorated. Breakfast was very well presented and service was excellent. The reception team were very helpful and could not have been more professional, they are an asset to this hotel. I cannot reccommend this hotel highly enough. Thank you all for a top class experience.

The hotel was not easy to find, but once we got our bearings, found it to be in a perfect location down a quietish alley not to far from everything. We stayed during aqua alta and watching the gondolas try to get the boats under the bridge from our bedroom window was highly entertaining!! The breakfast room was small but very well staffed by highly attentive waitresses. The room was simply furnished but very stylish and the bathroom was small but looked very high end. Having a min fridge was a plus! We will always stay here when in Venice... I hope to return very soon!

We had a Standard room, which had a big double bed and the kids on a sofabed. Even with the sofabed up the room still felt spacious. The decor had a lovely period feel, all dark wood and stone, and we had a view of the canal outside the window. The only tiny niggle was the number of coathangers in the wardrobe - only four ! Breakfast was a buffet with cereal, cold meats, cheese, bread, cake, fruit, croissants - all very nice. The hotel is only a few minutes from St Mark's but far enough away that you feel like you have explored a bit. I thought it was excellent value for the price we paid.

The restaurant next door is good too, not too expensive by Venice standards and much bigger than it looks from the outside.
