“Fantastic all round!”
Reviewed 19 March 2012

We stayed in Venice from 12-17th March and chose Hotel Sant Elena after reading other trip advisor reviews on various hotels in Venice. You couldn't ask for a better place to stay.
The Hotel is very clean and all the staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
Breakfast is served from 7-11 which consists of a continental buffet, also very good for choices and tasty too!

Although the Hotel is not in the centre of Venice (10 mins walk away), you can hop on the Vaporetto (water bus) which stops 3 mins walk from the Hotel and can take you wherever you need around the city for around €6.50 one way.

The rooms are good too. We had a king size deluxe double overlooking the interior courtyard/garden which was extremely quiet at night so if you like peace and quiet at night this is the place to stay.

We would definitely stay here again when we return to visit such a beautiful place that is Venice!

This hotel is away from the touristic hassle. But within 10 minutes walk your on Sant Marco square. The hotel is clean and spacious. It has a Vaporetto stop nearby.
The breakfast is good, the rooms are very quite.
The only negative point is that most of the staff makes a bored impression and is not very friendly, or better not very helpful.

Lived in this hotel five days. Excellent, quiet location. From the vaporetto stop for 3 minutes. An excellent opportunity to learn Venice on the other side. Take a walk in the morning along the alleys of the gardens Bienali with the locals leading the children to school. No tourists, no noise. In this case, to San Marco 4 stops (10 minutes) on the vaporetto. Overall, very good location - easy access and up to the Lido, and to San Marco and the Giudecca to the area. If you go to Piaca la Roma not through the Grand Canal, and the 6 th or 51 route, the path will take only 30 minutes.
The room was very large (about 19 square meters) compared to that offered at the center of Venice. Great mattress, good atmosphere, a spacious bathroom. Free Wi-Fi in the room.
Breakfast is worth special mention. A very good choice (though every day one and the same dish) and a good opportunity to recharge in the morning for long walks (after breakfast at 8 am, reminisced about eating 3-4 pm). An excellent hotel network, which supports high quality standards. In the future, when you visit Venice, I'll stop here.

The hotel is a little way out of the centre of Venice but only a 10min vaparetto ride or 30min walk from the main Square. We stayed during the Carnivale so it was good to be a little way out to get some space and peace from all of the crowds. There are a couple of shops, a restaurant and a bar just round the corner from the hotel but it is mainly as residential area so is very quiet which allows you to relax after a full day of visiting sites and drinks at night. The hotel itself does a nice breakfast with the usual suspects of cereals, scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, cheeses, cold meats, pastries and fruit. So a plentiful selection to start your day with. We stayed on the ground floor in a standard double room which for 5 days was adequate and for the price we paid it was very good value. In general the hotel doesn't excel but neither does it let you down and I think for the price and location it is a safe bet to go for if you like to get away from it all but still not be too far out to cause any issues with getting about. It also proved a good location for getting across to the Lido and also Murano.

Room Tip: Ground floor Room 105 was a standard double and quite adequate for a few days stay.

We stayed for 4 nights at this hotel during the Carnival in 2012, and were very happy with our accomodation

Always someone there on reception, and always happy to help out, with directions, information, or if you left your LAN cable at home :)

The room was immaculately clean, and the breakfast was varied.

It was about a (slow) 30 minutes walk from the centre of town for us, but there is a Vaporetto within 5 minutes walk, with a ticket booth nearby. It is easy to get to anywhere in Venice within the hour.

There is a small shop 2 minutes away, and a Co-op supermarket within 15 minutes walk, both sell wine, beer, basic food etc.

I'd recommend this hotel to friends, and would go back if I was going to stay in Venice again.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel, there was lots of choice at breakfast and certainly something for even the most fussy eaters.
Sant'Elena is a little bit further out than most hotels but the area is lovely and quiet and walking distance along the lagoon front to St Mark's square or a short ride on the Waterbus being carnival time too we wanted somewhere to escape the crowds.
Our junior suite was lovely and comfortable, plenty of room to relax after a long day walking around Venice and ideal if you just want a light bite in your room (couple of supermarkets are nearby one at Garibaldi street and another bigger one on Lido island.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The junior suites are lovely.

The Best Western Sant'Elena suited our needs perfectly - a crash pad from which to see Venice. Although somewhat away from the main "must sees" this turned out to be a plus as regards eating as we found the restaurants much better value in this area. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice, good clean bathroom with ample supply of toiletries.
