“Exquisite Venetian gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2013

We booked a family if four and requested 2 single beds for our children via e mail and this is what we got. We requested a canal view which we also got but the bonus was the balcony which meant we could step outside to watch the gondolas float past on the side canal. The room was spotless and perfect and did not disappoint. True, the lobby is small but the staff are lovely and the service was excellent. Breakfast was continental only, not cooked, but the coffee was good and there was enough on offer. The location is excellent- 5 mins to st Marc's or to the nearest vaporetto and in a quiet part of castello. A charming Hotel and would return of going back to Venice.

If you are looking to book a family suite at this hotel, they tell you they have one but in actuality they don't. We booked this hotel through booking rewards.com and confirmed through emails directly with Rasanka at the hotel, what type of beds we would have. We required one bed for 2 adults and 2 separate beds for our son and daughter age 19 & 16. Rasanka emailed back our travel agent confirming we would have separate beds for our teenagers. When we got to the hotel, our room had a pullout couch, not 2 separate beds, and one king bed .We asked if they had another room to accommodate our request of 2 separate beds. They told us they were sold out and couldn't accommodate us. We had to book another hotel. We have been trying to get our money back from Hotel ai due principe and they are refusing to refund us for the room. Also, the hotel does not have a private dock. You have to walk a distance rolling your suitcases to get to the hotel. The lobby is small. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone! We stayed at 7 different hotels in Italy and everyone of them confirmed either a suite with seperate beds for our teenagers or seperate rooms. This was the only disappointment of our entire 16 day trip. Had we been told they only had a pullout couch, we would have booked 2 rooms. Instead they pulled a bait and switch on us.

Brilliant location, just off the beaten track. Bedroom was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. The breakfast room was the only downside to this hotel as it was rather cramped, but I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is located a short walk from San Marco and the last water bus stop on one of the main lines. It was super convenient for everything we did and is definitely recommended for anyone seeking a clean, safe place to stay in Venice. If you are willing and able to splurge, I'd recommend staying somewhere on the grand canal. I have no idea how noisy it is at night or in the morning but the hotels on the grand canal looked beautiful as we motored past them.

While this hotel is not on the grand canal, it is on a very quiet canal that appeared to be a loop for gondola rides in the neighborhood. It was fun to watch the gondolas go by as we exited the hotel. As for the room, it was spacious, clean and comfortable with an equally nice bathroom. Breakfast was included in the morning and included lots of fruit, juices and coffees. I really dont have a bad thing to say about the place and would recommend it to anyone who doesnt plan on staying on the grand canal and wants to be slightly off the beaten path.

After coming off a long cruise, we were tired. We came to this hotel fell into our very comfortable beds and slept. The room was nice and spacious, which is needed for a large family of five. There is a nice continental breakfast included as well. It is in a nice location too. A canal is located right outside where you can pick up a gondola. Also you can take a short walk and take a water taxi. The view from our room was wonderful. We could see the canal with gondaliers from our window. The people are very helpful. If you have a question, they have the answer. We had a very good time in the short time we had in this beautiful city of Venice!

This is one of the best hotels we have yet stayed in! It's perfectly located just a couple of minutes from Saint Mark's square, but is out of the way of most passing tourists.

The rooms are large and tastefully decorated, and the quiet location, shutters and blackout curtains guarantee a great night's sleep.

Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. We couldn't have asked for any more of the hotel.

We had a fantastic time in Venice and would love to come back!

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a long weekend in May 2013.

When we arrived the water taxi couldn’t drop us off right by the hotel so we had a short walk with our bags up to the hotel. Aside from this minor inconvenience the location is great. No more than a five minute walk to San Marco and a great spot to explore Venice. We rarely used the Vaporetto – only to get to Murano – preferring to walk and the hotel is excellently located for that, although you’d be hard pressed to find a ‘really bad’ Venice location I think.

The hotel’s lobby is small, cluttered and does not give the best first impression, but the staff were mostly friendly and always helpful. We were showed to our room which was large-ish and well decorated with a painted ceiling. The bathroom was large and modern, with a double shower although no bath. There was a TV with 2 English channels, a small-ish wardrobe with a safe, and a mini-bar. Our room had a canal view (more of a glimpse, actually) and with the windows closed was very quiet.

The only disappointing aspect of the hotel was the breakfast – which was pretty average. A small buffet selection with no opportunity to order anything from an a la carte menu.

All in all the hotel was perfectly acceptable – it wasn’t five star luxury but we weren’t paying for five star luxury. The location was good, our room was comfortable, clean and characterful – if you can live with an average breakfast then this is an excellent bet.
