We have stayed here twice, and elected to have the same grand canal facing room as our first stay because it was so perfect. This hotel is quite modern inside and very clean, the staff are very relaxed and happy to serve. We opted for a small but perfectly located canal facing room because it's like a dream waking up, opening up the windows and looking directly out onto the grand canal with singing and music in the distance!

The centurion is located quite well, with a traghetto just around the corner or the water bus also close by. You can catch the bus across onto Piazza St Marco in just a couple minutes. The hotel is also very close to lots of local shopping "off the regular tourist path" that are very highly recommended.

The restaurant is very nice, and breakfast excellent with the service always great. I recommend you relax on the front landing in the evening with a nice coffee or hot chocolate! Just perfect.

Both of our stays to this hotel have been excellent, and so it is certainly consistently of very high standard. As for points for improvement? I can't suggest many things except perhaps it would be nice to have other options such as poached eggs for breakfast (unless I missed it on the menu). One other thing may be that staff could communicate on the name of guests that are staying, because we went to the front landing one evening for coffee again and two staff asked our name/rm number on three occasions which made us feel a little odd - but that's just a very minor point, everything was really quite perfect.

The centurion may not be a famous as the Gritti Palace or the Danieli - but it's every bit as good and every bit as luxurious.

We arrived by personal water taxi from Venice airport to start our break which although expensive was definitely the way to arrive at the hotel the reception was breathtaking and the high standard followed through to the bars and restaurant our room overlooked the quiet courtyard at the back the room was fantastic and very modern and decorated in very modern styling the hotel is well positioned a little away from the main hubbub of St Marks square but this was easily accessed by gondola ferry from down the side of the hotel for 2€ each way or less than a 1 minute walk from the water bus stop Salute
Meals could be taken on the balcony of the restaurant overlooking the grand canal.
The staff were exceptionally polite and friendly
Cannot wait to return

Room Tip: We didn't find a bad room even the rooms at the back were very nice

I cannot find any fault about this hotel. Ignore the negative comments about paying for wifi why do you need wifi when in such a magical place !!!!
We spent a wonderful two nights here very spacious room and fab bathroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful and one thing that I noticed was how friendly the manager was , he seemed to treat guests as if they were long lost friends and was more than willing to help.
Be sure to enjoy a meal or a drink on the terrace and enjoy the peace and quiet of the lagoon or the delightful sounds coming from the gondolas either one is a delightful experience.
The hotel is also situated in a great spot , away from all the crowds but within easy reach of the top places to visit. I only hope that I get to stay at this hotel again for me there would not be anything to match it.

This hotel is right by the nr. 1 or 2 vaporetto close to the Salute station. The train station is about 30 min away and St Marks's Square only 1 stop away. Disappointed that we had to pay 4 euros at a 4star hotel for 1hour of Internet that was not working well and was slow. The rooms are clean and modern. The bathroom is spacious and their breakfast was fresh and delicious. Sometimes you can get a seat outside and have breakfast al fresco with a beautiful view. The staff was nice and accommodating except for the lady that checked us in on August 18th at 1:30-2pm. She had a little bit of a superior attitude and didn't make us feel welcome 100%. Other than that this hotel is nice and even has a tiny fitness room. Oh and they charge a 10 Euro per night city tax which is more than we've ever been charged for city tax.

My wife and I stayed at the Centurion Palace hotel for 4 nights in Aug 2013. It was my wife's significant Birthday so we were hoping the hotel lived up to the reports. The hotel did and we enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was lovely with a small balcony onto the grand canal. The room was well equipped with good roof top views and kept very clean throughout our stay. For a city centre hotel the room size was acceptable if not luxurious. If you want a hotel close to everything, very modern interior but just outside the madness of the tourist spots I would recommend the Centurion Palace. The main criteria is if you like modern interiors with beautiful old exteriors then this is the hotel for you. Plus the free water taxi across the grand canal at 19:30 or 20:30 very handy. Don't miss out on private water taxi from/to the Airport from the hotel whilst expense worth the money only 30mins of Venice scenery and fast power boat!

Stayed at the centurion palace for a 3 night break in July with my partner for a romantic break , the staff were wonderful from the moment we arrived by private boat helped us with our cases , checked us in to our room very quickly. Room was amazing and nice touch as bottle of sparkling wine on ice and glasses waiting for us. Had a few drinks in bar very good service and had an amazing meal in the restaurant the first night , the table was outside and the views were amazing. The food was top quality and the waiter that served us was very friendly and very attentive food was quite expensive but 5star hotel and worth it. We loved our room and the breakfast included was very good quality and good choice of breakfast items . We found all staff very nice and friendly, very helpful . Location of hotel was great away from hustle and bustle but not too far to walk to bars and restaurants . We would love to return to this hotel

After reading other reviews I was expecting a fabulous experience. However, I must admit that I feel slightly disappointed, especially considering the money I paid for the hotel. The room was small, I mean very small. The big terrace adjacent to the room only slightly made up for it. bathroom was really poorly designed. The gold effect walls were pealing off under plastic panels due to water damage and to cover it up, they were painted gold in places. Very shabby job. On our final day the lift was out of service. We were dragging our suitcases 3 floors down and even though two members of staff passed by, they did not offer help.
On the other hand, we liked the lobby and the breakfast, as we managed to secure a table outside by the canal. Door and reception desk staff were very nice and knowledgeable about the area. Turn down service with complimentary chocolates and weather forecast for the following day were a very nice touch.
Overall, it was not a bad hotel, however for the price I expected more attention to detail that makes your stay a 5 star experience.
