“Very Nice but 15 Euro for a can of pop!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 September 2010

The staff were delightfull and the hotel was very chic. Breakfast was fine and I have nothing but good things to say about it. The only thing that could bring the ratings down was perhaps the greed element. I did'nt think I was tight and I can live with ten quid for a glass of wine and £12 quid for a G&T but I think 15 Euro's for a can of orange pop is taking the ****! Venice is lovley though, enjoy!

We stayed here for 2 nights and loved it. They said they gave us an upgrade but it seemed just like a normal room (no view of the canal). The location is awesome-right on the Grand Canal by the Peggy Guggenheim museum. There's a water vaparetto stop right by it which is super convenient. The hotel inside is very modern & updated. Our room was very nice, clean & the bathroom was cool-all gold inside. However, the shower was kind of annoying because it's not fully enclosed and we kept getting water all over the bathroom floors. The service was great-they were nice helping us with any questions we had. The breakfast is also amazing. A huge spread of pastries, juices, fruit, meats, salmon, eggs etc etc etc. I would definitely stay here again & I would definitely suggest it to my friends who visit Venice :)

The hotel is fantastic, the staff is wonderful, the location could not
be any better. The rooms are enormous.
I would love to come back to Centurion Palace, they have made my holiday.

Recomendations: Book the water taxi from the hotel to the airport, 100 euros, not cheap but worth it, its an experience in itself.

Great restaurant : A Beccafico at Academia, superb food, very good staff, and well priced for Venice for the quality you get.

Very disappointed with our recent stay at the Centurion Palace. Traditional facade but inside the hotel has been totally modernised, it is cheap and tasteless and no thought to practical use inside the very small hotel bedrooms. The walls are lined with silk paper but the finish on everything else is cheap and nasty. I wanted an iron and ironing board but was told it was a health and safety issue to use one in my room, obviously due to all the combustable furnishings and /or tactics to use the very expensive laundry service.
The staff were ar best unfriendly and worst arrogant and surly. The service was hit and miss and not to a 5 star standard.

Modern styling differentiates this small hotel from other luxury hotels in Venice. Warm colors used throughout the hotel, beds are plush, couches and chairs perfect (design and functionality--go figure!). Location great--very close to St. Marco square (one stop on the "boat bus"), but on the other side of the Canal, so away from the noise and crowds. Hearty breakfast. Travelled with ten people, all raved about hotel and staff/service. Very friendly staff who are proud of their new hotel. Great choice of rooms in hotel--I stayed in a two level, 1 bedroom suite with a balcony overlooking the Grand Canal.

This is an excellent hotel in a great position to enjoy Venice. My wife and I had just disembarked from the Seabourne Odyssey and it was our first trip to Venice. We walked 5 minutes from the ship, booked a private water taxi for €80 direct to the Centurion's own small jetty right at the mouth of the Grand Canal. The journey took about 20 minutes. The location of the hotel is across the Grand Canal from St Marks Basin, and using the very frequent public transport boat one stop from Salute to St Marks Square. (Each trip was €2) and very easy to use, if a little crowded. The cafe and restaurant overlook the Grand Canal and the rear courtyard is an oasis away from the hustle bustle of a tourist packed Venice. First impressions are that the Hotel is clearly newly renovated at great expense, in a contemparary elegant style. The hotel building is a former convent of Palace Genovese, so from the outside has the appearance of a small very grand building but the modern stylish interior is in complete contrast. We booked direct with the hotel a Deluxe room and were lucky enough to be upgraded on arrival. We were early so left our bags and went to explore Venice. On our return the staff showed us to our room but we had to wait about about 40 minutes for our bags to arrive. Our room was superb with two windows each with small walk-on balcony overlooking Grand Canal. The room was double height and my wife and I were particularly impressed with the massive floor to ceiling curtains which were opened and closed by buttons next to the bed. For once it was a joy to come into a modern hotel room and all the light switches were intuatively placed where you expect them to be. One of my gripes but it annoys me how many hotels get this wrong. The room was very well equipped and vey stylish as well as large flat screen TV (with good selection of English channels), mini bar (v expensive), plenty of hangars for clothes, safe, good space to stow suitcases, large comforable bed, and good quality ipod docking station. The bathroom was very modern and decked out in gold / brass / orange (depending on your taste) with double sink, toilet, bidet, bath, double shower with rainmaker shower.
Breakfast was a good selection of all the usual breakfast fare including smoked salmon. I also noticed Champagne was available for those wanting a Bucks Fizz. We had a leisurley breakfast on the restaurant's decking on the Grand Canal.
We peeked into a few of the rooms as maids were cleaning them and every room is very different from another, so be specific about any special room requests. My wife and I travel extensively and this is certainly a Hotel we would certainly recommend if you are willing to pay for a quality hotel, good service, and funky bathrooms :-)

Just got back from 3 nights at the Centurion Palace and not sure if it was worth the ratings.I booked through expedia into the Superior Double Room.Initially on arrival the room looked great,nice size,good bed,good t.v.,Ipod docking station,mini bar, good lighting.It was the bathroom that was the let down.There was no bath,the decor was a garish gold colour.It had a nice sink and the shower with lights in the floor was just a show piece.Dont touch the mini bar,ive stayed in hotels around the world and paid some mini bar bills but this was ridiculous.One can of coke and two small mineral waters 19euros.There are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room.There is no use of irons for guests,only an expensive laundry service.The breakfast was good.though. i saw not one guest eat a restaurant evening meal or use the bar.the location was good but im not sure i would recommend this hotel.And as has happened with expedia booked hotels before you dont seem to get the best rooms.

Dear Guest,

thank your for sharing your experience at Centurion Palace with others.
Further to your comments, herewith I would like to underline the following points:
1) In some rooms bathrooms have either bath-tub or shower; in some others we have both.
2) What concerns criticism regarding mini-bar costs, I inform you that these are 5-star luxus hotels Standard prices;
3) Coffee/tea making facilities in room is not our Standard;
4) In Venice we have no permission to allow Guests to use irons in room;
5) Room upgrade is always up to availability at the moment of check-in; when hotel is fully booked, expecially in High season, we cannot satisfy all our Guests' UPGRADE requests.

I thank you for very good rating in terms of room cleaning, hotel location and service.
Should you need any assistance or further information, please do not hesitate to contact me personally.
We trust we will have the chance to welcome you back to Centurion Palace in the future, with the hope you will revise your position.
Best regards,
