“Service with(out) a smile”
Reviewed 28 September 2013

The reviews mentioning the unfriendly - outright rude - waitress are absolutely correct. Unless they only hire similar staff, we must all have encountered this lady! None of the four of us can remember what we ate there (the food was just average and obviously forgettable) but we all remember the attitude of the waitress!

“Good food, service not so”
Reviewed 25 September 2013

I enjoyed going to a restaurant on the 'other side' of the Grand Canal. We all had grilled fish, and no complaints there.
However, our waitress was unfriendly. The 'other' waitress was much nicer, but the one assigned to us really took away from an enjoyable experience. it's a shame, because I would not recommend this place just based on her attitude.
After dinner we enjoyed Grom gelato down the street.

“nice during the day, not so nice at night”
Reviewed 21 September 2013

We visited this restaurant for lunch the other day and were extremely pleased. The solitary server,Betty couldn't have been more personable likewise the female chef who frequently came out of the kitchen to help serve. The Chef offered several witty comments about NOT using cheese on seafood (as we Americans are wont to do) as well as making all the patrons present feel welcome and appreciated. All in all the service was exemplary as was the food. We revisited the following evening and were dismayed at the cold, impersonal service offered by the three young women working and the food was not as good as the day before - the personnel in the kitchen were different (younger, male and not as experienced). We will DEFINITELY not go back for dinner - ever, but will for lunch based on our two experiences and will advise all we talk to to do the same. Lunch? Yes, Dinner? a resounding NO!!!!

“Authentic, good value”
Reviewed 21 September 2013 via mobile

Our best dining experience in Venice. The mixed vegetable starter was so good we licked the plate. Our spaghetti with shrimp in a red sauce was superb. The extra large shrimp tasted like little lobsters. Perfectly cooked. This restaurant was a great value, especially for Venice. Make reservations in advance.

“Rude waitress, wrong location”
Reviewed 24 August 2013 via mobile

If you find this place using this app, you are truly a genius. It is in a different place. We only found it because it was listed correctly in a different guidebook that is a few years old. But it seems this place is for locals and in-the-know people. They don't want to be found and treated us like we were unwelcome intruders, barely meeting the minimum standard in service and falling below it for civility. From the second we asked if they took credit cards, the waitress was openly hostile and had a scowl on her face (they don't). Seriously not one smile the whole time. She wrote out our receipt like she was disgusted that we spent only the 30 euros we had on hand on a single dish of squid ink pasta and a bottle of water. Here's a tip for this restaurant: buy a credit card machine. The downside of having to pay a small surcharge on your receipts to the credit card company will surely be made up for in goodwill. And be more friendly to tourists. Venice -- and your livelihood -- depend on them.
