My daughter and I chanced on Bloom and Settimo Cielo in Venice via a Sunday Telegraph article. We found it very comfortable and had the "white room" which was tastefully furnished with a lovely ensuite bathroom. Space is at a premium in Venice and whilst not overly spacious, the décor, lovely breakfast area and the roof terrace with free Prosecco made this a really exciting find for us. We could access all the major places of interest and the concierge at the nearby hotel owned by the same people, put us onto some wonderful restaurants that we would not have found without his help and recommendation. I would definitely return to this B&B for its style, comfort and location.

Room Tip: Other reviews have commented on the purple room being a bit tight for space but the white room was a...

Very sad to be leaving Venice and this perfectly positioned property (equidistant from all the 'attractions'). Anthony and the team could not have been more friendly and helpful both prior to and during our stay. Bloom is, as you will know fr the website, one of 2 seperate 'floors' of rooms in a building just around the corner from the hotel which you will just about see set back on a small courtyard completely covered in plants. Anthony kindly emailed us directions prior to our deoarture but we still managed to get ourselves a bit lost after a delayed flight and dark but we asked peopke for the square rather than the property which no one seemed to have heard of- which in a way made it more special and a wonderful surprise. Once you have checked in at the hotel you will be assisted to the b and b around the corner and up 3 flights of stairs- a lovely warm, beautifully fragranced stylish hall welcomes but still doesnt suggest a b and b. Once on the correct floor you will pass the tastefully chi chi breakfast area with lovely views of the facing church and venice skyline. Our room was the corner purple room with proper en suite- I make this point as it appeared some of the rooms had a bathroom that was out of their bedroom. Our room was lovely and lavishly decorated in chic venetian style. Yes it was relatively small but that added to the 'tucked away, special' feel - I have been privileged to stay in large suites before and rarely used a fraction of the space available anyhow. The bathroom was again relatively compact but perfectly formed with towels warmed for our arrival, bathrobes, slippers and quality toiletries (no lotion though but you arent in outer Mongolua so can buy some if need be!) The showerhead was large with excellent water pressure. Adequate storage space though no drawers as such and the lighting was somewhat sultry which enhanced the overall feel but did mean putting make up on in the bathroom. The room has 2 windows, one facing the church and the other over a relatively quiet square. The bed was very comfortable with a choice of memory foam or regular pillows and the curtains had blackout lining which ensured a sound nights sleep. Breakfast was a calm start to the days and served in yet another immaculate area. We knew it was continental when we booked so it would be unfair to say the choice was a bit boring after a few days- the cafe across the square does cooked breakfast anyhow. There is a lounge/reading area on the floor above which is again stylish and welcoming and the terrace was a fabulous spot to watch the New Year fireworks with the complimentary prosecco. I would not hesitate to stay here, in fact short of winning a fortune and staying at the Maria Adele hotel which looked beautiful, I would not stay anywhere else should we return. If I were to make one nitpicky comment it would be that tea/ coffee making facilities in the upstairs lounge would make Bloom the absolute perfect place to stay in Venice- near enough to the main sites but in a quiter location. Well done and thank you so much to all at Bloom. Wishing you every success in 2014.

Room Tip: You may wish to check that your bathroom is actually within tne confines of your own room.

We really enjoyed our stay at this B&B. We really like location - close to St. Marks and Rialto. We stayed in the white room, and it was one of our largest rooms and bathrooms on our trip through Italy (my favorite shower of the trip). The square can be noisy when you have your windows open, but once we closed them at night, we barely heard a thing. The breakfast was good. The rooftop terrace was great. We enjoyed our complimentary bottle prosecco one night before dinner. It was a very memorable experience to watch the sunset over the Venice rooftops, listen to the church bells chime, and watch the hustle bustle in the square below. We would definitely stay here again. Also we found the B&B very easy to find following their directions from the San Angelo stop (I would familiarize yourself with the picture of their sister hotel (Locanda Fiorita) since that is where you check in).

Room Tip: We really liked the white room. Very spacious with a great bathroom and large shower.

Brilliant location - you can access all sites really easily walking or by waterbus. I wouldn't say this is a good quality boutique hotel though. The purple room was much smaller than it looks in the photos and the bathroom was very tight. A few things were annoying: the breakfast area was not well lit and on a dark morning was difficult to see anything; the bedroom also lacked light. Even though outside it was 16 degrees, the room was stifling and the aircon didn't work - it overlooks the square which was noisy so leaving the window open meant it was difficult to sleep. And a classic, our passports, tickets and money were stuck in a safe where the handle had fallen off - even though the hotel staff said this had happened previously they hadn't got it fixed or left a note on it not to use it! They didn't seem to appreciate the severity of the problem. Although it was a pleasant stay, it was not good value for money and I would have expected more in terms of the quality, size and a complimentary bottle for 280 euros a night would have been good.

Room Tip: don't choose the purple room if you are a light sleeper

Dear Madame

Thank you for taking time to write a review of the hotel and I am delighted that you appreciated our wonderful location in the very heart of Venice. You were staying in the purple room, which is a double superior room that happens to be slightly smaller than the other rooms of this category, but it does have a bathtub rather than a shower.

Our lighting has been carefully designed to enhance the charm of the rooms and communal areas reflecting the belle époque of the city.

You stayed with us in October and by this time our air conditioning system was configured towards heating the rooms, and with an external temperature of 16 degrees I am surprised you found the room to be “stifling”.

In terms of the problem with the security safe in the room I understand the night duty receptionist informed you at once that we had called a technician who would be at the hotel at 8am the next day and he duly arrived and the problem was solved as promised.

October is high season in Venice and the room rate reflects this and as many other reviewers have written Bloom B and B does offer an excellent rapport Price/quality.

We serve complimentary Prosecco to all of our guests and I am sorry you were not made aware of this by our staff.

Yours faithfully

Alessandra Vazzoler

Look, I agree with many of the reviewers of this hotel that it has many special features. Roof terrace, privacy, location etc.

But you have to weigh this up against the price (whilst recognising that Venice is expensive)

So, we stayed in the Purple Room for three nights on a romantic break. Pretty room but small by most standards and the bathroom was small too. Its fairly noisy from the square so careful if you are a light sleeper

Breakfast was a mystery to us. Its served until 10 ( If I remember well) and there isn't any flexibility. We didn't make it a single time. The closest we got was 10.10 and we were told that its all finished. Bit inflexible we thought and the breakfast crew were far from friendly( The reception crew were very friendly in contrast)

Not a big deal I suppose as the cafe's are so much more fun for breakfast in Venice. But given the cost I'd expect better

So very pleasant but what I would expect and no more...so average then

Dear Sir
Thank you for taking time to send a review of our hotel to Trip Advisor. We welcome constructive criticism and we are always try to improve our services where possible. I am delighted that you agree with many of our satisfied clients who have written reviews on this and other sites about our very special location, the gorgeous roof terrace and privacy offered to our guests.
Bloom is located in a 16th Century townhouse and we are of course very restricted with planning laws which guarantee the safeguard of Venice. Therefore we have maximized the use of space for the rooms and bathrooms. You were in the purple room (303) which is slightly smaller than the other rooms in the same category ( double superior), but it does have a bathtub in the bathroom as oppose to a shower.
In terms of breakfast we always advise our guests of the times this is served (from 08.00 to 10.00am), but if clients request an earlier or later serving then we are more than happy to oblige where feasible.

Kindest regards

AV

Bloom is on the top floor of a town house in a pretty square. Climbing up ,especially carrying luggage ,is tough! The library is relaxing, opening onto a beautiful roof terrace, where you can sip the complimentary prosecco and drink in the beautiful view. The room was very comfortable with excellent Fragonard toiletries. The breakfast is delicious ! The location is very good, an easy walk to St Marks and the Rialto. Not cheap, but very comfortable and relaxing.

Awesome B&B, ideal for couples on a romantic trip.

The good:

- Perfect location – close enough to walk everywhere but far enough from the hustle and bustle of St. Mark's square area
- Décor: clever mix of venetian tradition and hipper/modern ideas – v. elegant
- Rooftop terrace (+ complimentary prosecco!)
- The feeling of having your own apartment in Venice (no staff around most of the time, feels very private)
- Service: discreet + effective
- Excellent value for money (for Venice at least…)

The bad:

Nothing really, but beware: no lift and steep stairs… so pack light!

Tips: Thanks to another tripadvisor reviewer we didn't get lost on arrival, so I think it's worth repeating… The directions on the website will lead you to the B&B, which is in Campo Santo Stefano (opposite the Church) BUT, as the B&B does not have a reception, you will have to check-in first at the nearby Locanda Fiorita (small square on you right coming from S. Angelo, just before campo Santo Stefano, I think it’s called Campiello Nuovo).
