Excellent location, friendly staff, reasonable price. Be sure to have google maps ready because this place is easy to miss. Like most places in Venice. Wifi isn't the best but apart from that, everything was good.

The location is ideal. Practically in the center of everything - restaurants, bars, trattorie - close to the central station as well as the main S. Marko square (reachable within a 20 minute walk). The hotel itself is a confy accommodation, all clean and tidy, staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
Definitely value for money.
Would absolutely come again.

We were on a budget honeymoon trip last autumn and eventually booked a room here at Hotel Marte for an overnight stay.

Generally had a good location in Cannaregio, it was about a 10 min straightforward walk from the train station through a busy street and didn't have to cross any bridges (this is a big deal, it's difficult to carry along heavy luggage across bridges unless you hire a porter.) It's very accessible to anywhere else in Venice either by water taxi or by foot. Upon arrival, we rang the doorbell to let them know we had arrived and was told to proceed to the 2nd floor (2 floors up from the ground level). I had to carry our two large and heavy suitcases up 2-3 flights of steep and quite narrow stairs and was not offered any help. Wasn't much of a big deal to be honest, we had expected this having read previous reviews, and hey, it's Venice. Check-in was generally fast and we were pleased to be given the room with a view of one of the side canals.

The room was OK with decent space, a little dated as expected, bed was fine. The toilet had a slight musty smell, while the shower was cramped (for a 5'3 Asian). Water pressure wasn't strong and the toiletries provided were barely adequate.

The hotel has a curfew of 1am, so make sure you're heading back before that time otherwise you may be locked out (it's at least a 20-30 min. walk from Piazza San Marco). Facing the street can be a little noisy because of the bridge in front.

They allowed us to check out an hour later and also kept our luggage for about 3-4 hours before we left for our bus ride to the airport. Also had to carry our luggage down the stairs leaving.

Overall, we liked the reasonable price and location. Perhaps they can offer to help guests with their luggage as an added value. Hotels in Venice aren't cheap.

Last note: We had lost a little over 200 USD that was hidden in one of our suitcases, however we were not able to immediately identify if it was lost during our stay here. While it was partly us to blame for not keeping the cash safe enough, I thought that it would be best to inform fellow travelers about keeping their cash safely when leaving the room, even if you're in a European country.

Room Tip: Room facing the canal is nice but can be noisy at certain times of the day

We stayed between 8/9 and 11/9. We had a twin room with a side canal view.
There are no lifts and three steep flights of stairs to get to reception, which was fine for us, but not for anyone less than fully mobile.
The room was spartan yet clean. Towels were refreshed daily, and the shower was warm and powerful enough.
The bed comfort was also fine, but I would recommend earplugs if you are a light sleeper- very thin walls.
It is easy to travel around Venice via vaporetto (waterbus) and the city is simply arresting in its beauty.
