“Wondeful stay, wonderful host!”
Reviewed 23 May 2014

Stayed at Alle Guglie B&B for one night during 10 days traveling through Italy. The host, Antonio, was wonderful and accommodating. He gave us tips on dining and destinations and is very knowledgeable on everything in Venice. He also has tons of books available if you want to read up on sites in Venice or the history. The location is central to everything and is less than ten minutes walking from the train station.

The room itself was no frills, but was perfectly clean, comfortable and suited our needs. The breakfast was also delicious. Antonio got fresh bread and pastries for us in the morning and made us coffee. We also had yogurt, cereals and juice. I would highly recommend Alle Guglie B&B for all visitors to Venice. We had a great stay and will definitely be returning. Thank you for making our stay perfect!

My wife and I stayed two nights in this very nice B&B. Easy to find and just a short 10 minute walk from the main train station. Antonio was a wonderful host with recommendations on dining, sites to see and great directions. The room was large with a nice terrace and very quiet for sleeping. Started each day with breakfast and conversation with Antonio our host. Highly recommend this B&B.

The location is very near the river bus station, and is around 5-10 mins walk from the main train station. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room is small, but is clean and tidy. The breakfast is good. For the price given, there is really nothing for us to complain about. Everything is great!

The Alle Guglie was in a great location, close to everything. The vaporetto was within walking distance. Tony, our host was helpful with maps and information on local restaurants. Thank you Tony for all your help in Venice, you made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was delicious! We would definitely come back to this B & B!

Antonio, the host, will go to great lengths to ensure that you have everything you need or would like to do, during your stay in chaotic Venice. Being a local, he advises you on the stuff that the locals do, and you feel attached to Venice, despite being only a visitor. He is deeply interested in art, and he can advise you on the best exhibits in the Venice Biennale, if you don't have the time to see a lot, or just want to pick and choose. The B&B is in the Cannaregio district, very near the Alilaguna (I may have spelled that wrong), stop of the water shuttle from Venice Airport. A highly enjoyable way to come from the airport. However, the train station is 10 minutes away in a straight path, so that one would not get lost. Breakfast is hearty, and the pastries are sourced fresh off the bakery. The area is just choker with restaurants and tourist shops, so one merely has to go downstairs to get a bite to eat or do some shopping. The B&B has only one room, and it is very popular, so you do have to book months ahead, to ensure that you get a booking during your desired dates.

This is a good place to stay in Venice, convenient location with a great host who gave easy directions to find the place and tips on good places to eat. We would stay here again when in Venice. We visited in May and the mosquitoes were out so you may want to pack bug repellant when you go.

Room Tip: It is a good idea to stay right in Venice especially if visiting for the first time.

My partener and I stayed here for three nights the week following Easter 2013. This is nothing more or less than a large bedroom with it's own very adequate bath in Antonio's top floor apartment in a building at the end of a short, narrow, mysterious (in the way of Venice) calle in the Cannaregio neighborhood. While it is in a bustling, lively area, the apartment is very quiet. The guest room/bath is separated from Antonio's own quarters by a foyer. Each morning Antonio leaves his kitchen to his guests after laying out cereals, breakfast beverages and fresh juice and baked goods. It's a perfectly decent and private continental breakfast. The bedroom is large with adequate closet space and it is attractively decorated. The bed is very comfortable for two adults and there is a window looking out onto a quiet terrace. As stated before the bath is a good size. It is clean and fully equipped with everything in working order. There is a tub with a shower attachment. The feeling is one of actually living in the city. Antonio himself is a friendly young man who made us feel welcome without ever being intrusive in any way. He asked us to pay the bill in cash which we did. Including an 18 euro city tax, the cost was 392 euros for three nights, about $165/night. While not exactly cheap, I thought this a reasonable price in this very expensive city. One caveat is that there is no lift, so be prepared to haul yourself and your belongings up three flights of stairs. I enjoyed this place quite a lot.
