“Good experience here on January 1”
Reviewed 2 January 2014

The reviews for this restaurant are rather negative, but we enjoyed it. We had the venetian veal liver, a spaghetti with tomato, grilled scampi, fried potatoes, wine and sparkling water all for 60 euros (total for 2 persons) and absolutely nothing wrong with it. Not haute cuisine, but fair for the price.

“Good local food in a part of Venice that isn't overwhelmed by tourists”
Reviewed 17 November 2013

We were tempted to go in because local workmen were eating lunch: it was a good choice - the food was delicious and accurately made - a great soup to begin and seafood liguine and a saffron flavoured sauce to go with a prawn pasta dish good local white wine. The service was pleasant and friendly - very well worth a visit. And the Via Garibaldi is endlessly interesting.

“Not world-class but a very decent option in this over-priced city”
Reviewed 22 September 2013

We've eaten here several times over the years. The food is not outstanding, but is good food for good money. The house wine is pretty good. Service ranges with the waiters but the last time we had this Italian Richard Gere-looking guy and he was really friendly. The copperto is also reasonable at 1 euro, 50 - the next night we went for a much fancier place down the same road where the copperto was 3 euro per person: the wine wasn't particularly good and it was hands down the worst sea food spaghetti that I've ever encountered (oily and drenched in a tomato sauce so that you couldn't taste the seafood at all). The bill ended up coming to about 20 euros more than we paid at Sottoprova for food that awful - yes the dishes looked better with the nice napkins but I'd take a paper serviette with a good plate of vongole over that any day. Next time, we'll simply go to Sottoprova - we're assured of a decent pasta and pizza for a reasonable price.

“Attitude attitude attitude”
Reviewed 23 July 2013

We were very hopeful when we got seated at this outdoor pizzeria with a lovely view of the canal and neighborhood shopping district. Our problems started when the server approached the table and was very rude when we were not ready to place our order immediately and she informed us that she was very busy and would not wait to answer questions. She then proceeded to avoid us for approx. 15 mins until we asked another server to take our order. The food was underwhelming at best . Trying to get the check proved a daunting task. After repeated attempts to get their attention we took our payment to the register and the transaction was cold to say the least. This had to be one of the poorest excuses for a restaurant that we have ever experienced. The food was marginal but their behavior was inexcusable. Stay away and don't waste your time or money

“Good pizza, nice atmosphere”
Reviewed 9 July 2013

We are traveling on a budget and have found pizza a cheap dinner option in expensive Venice. Our pizza here was tasty and the service great. Beware that, unlike many restaurants, they do add 12 percent gratuity.
