We had no idea's where to eat on our 1st night in venice but having read the reviews we thought we would give it a go. We were greeted by a friendly man who found us a table inside. Thank you for Air Con as it was very hot outside. The food was excellent and there wine recommendation was spot on. The gentleman that served us (likes sheep lol sorry did not get his name) was friendly and informative. We had the selection of fresh fish between two of us and it was stunning. My son had a cream pasta dish which he said was very good.

Thanks for a great meal

We've just returned home from our Italian Tour (Florence, Rome and Venice) and this unassuming restaurant was the best dining experience of the trip. We went there first on the basis of the recommendations on Trip Advisor but we returned for our last night in Venice because the food and service we experienced was fantastic and all four of us voted to go back again.

The staff are great (thank you for the make shift bib made from a tea towel to protect my shirt) - friendly, attentive but without being pushy and by all accounts they've been with the restaurant for a good few years which in itself is a positive sign.

The food was great value (we were a group of 4 adults) and we had wine, starters, mains and desert/coffee and the average bill was around 140 euros BUT the quality of the food was amazing. You've simply got to go to have the mussels - I've never been served quite so many as a starter before and the sauce they came in was to die for (had to have them on both visits).

The pasta dishes are freshly made (loved the pasta and clams) and my wife tells me her lasagna was one of the best she's ever had! The salads were lovely and fresh and the complimentary limoncello at the end of the meal was a nice touch.

If you want a great meal served by happy people who like what they do then take yourself to Al Chianti - if we do get back to Venice we certainly plan to.

One small note of caution - they're busy with tables being filled within seconds of being vacated so either get there early or be prepared to wait for a table to clear (it's worth the wait)

We have visited Venice for the first time and over 4 night have eaten in a number of restaurants. This is by fer the best in terms of quality of food, the price and the service is excellent! The waiting staff will sell you lots but in a very nice, non pushy way, you will love every minute and in comparison to what you will pay on a square you will get far more and better quality. We loved watching the waiter, he is excellent with customers. Can't recommend highly enough this should be #1

The food here is really delicious and their home made deserts are worth trying. We were impressed by how friendly and attentive the staff was.

The pasta all carbonara was fantastic, as was the ravioli and other food we ordered. Great find in such a touristy location.
