We stopped by Dona Onesta for dinner one evening...the food was good but definitely not exceptional. This would be a good place to take a family if you are traveling with kids.

We were staying at the Tivoli Hotel, right around the corner and I had read on Trip Advisor about Dona Onesta. It lived up to it's reputation! Wonderful food. Something for everyone on the menu. I was traveling with two adults and two children. We all loved our first eating experience in Venice!

The restaurant had been rated quite highly on TA, and someone had mentioned the risotto being good, so we though it was worth a try. For a restaurant in venice, the food is exceptionally good value, and the mushroom risotto was delicious. Perfectly cooked and at a good price. We had very nice service from a waitress, but the service apart from her was quite surly. The restaurant is, like others have said, quite brightly lit and not very cosy. These two downsides really are made up for by the price and quality of the food, definitely worth a visit if you're in venice and just want some great food, and if the service turns out to be good then it's just a bonus. The wine is a little more expensive here than elsewhere, couldn't see a carafe of house wine on the menu, so there were only the bottles of wine, which are (relative to the carafe) more expensive.

The service at this place was terrible, the servants seemed absolutely uninterested in our visit. The food was adequate but not more than that and we paid to much for what we got.

All in all a very poor experience for a restaurant with a Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence 2012 on the window.
