“Very well looked after!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2012

My wife and I had a late lunch here on 16th May (wife's birthday).
We were made to feel very welcome by the staff and Manager (owner?).
Food was very good, house wine of a good standard and it had all the makings and atmosphere of a quality restaurant - which it clearly is.
Well done to the staff for looking after us so well and thank you for the complimentary sweet wine which was actually quite pleasant!
We would definitely recommend A Beccafico and we will visit again when next in Venice.
I would like to dine there when it's busy to see if the comments about staff attitude have credence. Under pressure staff usually find a smile more difficult, from our experience!

“Bad attitude...poor customer service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2012

We attempted to have dinner here on the recommendation of the owner of the B&B we were staying at. We were not advised that a reservation was necessary, and I am absolutely positive we would have been advised of this if it was. When we arrived just after 7:00 p.m.(which is when they open for dinner service), there were many empty tables. As we started to take our place at one of the tables, we were promptly shooed away and told not until at least 9:00 without a reservation...which was not done in any sort of a polite or professional manner. As good as the food may or may not be, I would not spend my money here to be treated poorly. Go right next door where the food is very good and the service and attitude is MUCH better.

“"Better than you" attitude”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2012 via mobile

This review isn't about the food. It's about atmosphere. At most restaurants in Italy, even the fine ones, there are patrons outside trying to win you over to have a seat at their place. This one had a pretentious feeling right from the start. We weren't acknowledged at all, even after viewing the menu and waiting a few minutes to be greeted. The maitre 'D snubbed us before sneering out a "bon journo" and quickly walked off.

We left and found a more inviting atmosphere around the corner.

“Our very best Venetian meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2012

From the first greeting (upbeat, a bit cheeky) and the first glance at the place (glowing, busy, spilling out onto Campo Santo Stefano), we knew we were in for a good time. The servers were responsive and helpful, but what really made it was the fantastic food. Their "Busiate del Pescatore in padella" is the most delicious pasta dish I've ever had. Do not miss this place!

“Not bad BUT !!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 May 2012

By the attitude of the wait staff you would think you were dining at Le Bernadin,Jean Georges or Daniel in New York, BUT your not, The food was ok but you really thought you were doing them a favor. The resturant won't be ranked this high for long, the staff needs be more customer friendly.
