“A well-located and very chic B&B”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

We just spent four nights at Settimo Cielo and had a wonderful experience here. We had no problem finding it (using the instructions that came with the reservation confirmation email) and came in via train, and then vaporetto to Sant Angelo stop. We were greeted by Anthony when we checked in, who could not have been nicer or more helpful. He gave us great restaurant suggestions to really experience Venice as a local, and we made sure to hit each and every recommendation. It became a personal challenge, and we loved it. The B&B does have its own entrance, which is a large door right across from the entrance to a church. Cannot say enough about the location - so close to St Marks and the Rialto. We booked fairly last minute and got in, though had a room with the bathroom (private) across the hall. It was only one step from our room door, and eventually, we got used to it, though next time, I would want the bathroom in the room. The room itself was quite small, but hey, its Venice. The size of the room is compensated for the charming rooftop terrace and library, where we spent quite a lot of time enjoying the sunset and sipping Prosecco, supplied in the bar fridge in the library and available at no charge. Very civilized. I did find the breakfasts to be a bit too minimal - I would have liked to be able to order eggs every now and then - but there are plenty of little cafes in the area to remedy that. Definitely recommend and would stay again!

Room Tip: I would say the rooms on the higher floors would be quieter - cobblestones and narrow alleys and noi...

Absolutely recommend to stay while in Venice. The hotel is in a quiet place and yet within a 2 min walk from the city center. Great design, friendly stuff and marvelous breakfasts in a very intimate atmosphere. Great price/quality relation.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a St.Stefano square view.

Not sure if we stayed at Settimo Cielo or Bloom it is one and the same building I believe owned by two different people. Whatever, it is a great place to stay you feel as though you are entering your own private house with a the key to your own doorway from the street. I agree with previous reviewers that it could be hard to find BUT we just emailed for instructions to guide you from Vaperetto stop Saint Angelo on the grand canal. they were perfect. Check in is at a third property but the staff were excellent especially Anthony would told us of a public Transport strike on our check out day and gave us the best way the return to the airport.
The breakfast each day was just outside our room and could not be faulted. The room we had was the beige room with a huge bed and a very nice shower room . we reported a bulb out in the bedside lamp it was fixed immediately. Close to St Marks Square the Rialto and the Grand Canal. The crowning glory was the library and roof terrace were you can watch the sun go down over Venice with a complimentary bottle of Prosecco.

As many travellers have already reported, it is quite difficult to find the reecption which is located in the hotel next door, itself not clearly signed.
Despite this, you really have the feeling to be almost in your own house in the heart of Venice. Rooms are comfortable and everything is quiet (not many rooms). Roof terrace is also lovely, and having the possibility to enjoy a breakfast there would be a plus.
The only drawback is this awful smell in the grround floor and also on the 1st floor (especially in the corridor). The management should definitely do something about this!

We stayed for a long weekend here in June. The room was fantasic - big and charmingly furnished with a nice shower room. The position within the city is very central and it's very convenient for the water bus stop and the sights. Though bear in mind that getting lost in Venice is part of it's magic ;-)
We used the lovely roof terrace and enjoyed the prosecco from the fridge. (I really cannot imagine what a previous reviewer is complaning about!)
Only two negative points - firstly the price, but it's Venice after all, so not at all fair to compare with other cities. You need deep pockets for everything here.
On a practical note though, it would be lovely if you didn't need to relog in to the WiFi every time you used it. Now that everyone travels with multiple device (we had 5 between 2 people) the endless username and password typing starts to get annoying.

Stayed here for just one night on my honeymoon after two nights at the sister hotel, Locanda Fiorita. Settimo Cielo and Bloom (all three places are owned/run by the same people) are in a townhouse-type building, so the reception is round the corner at Locanda Fiorita. We stayed in the White Room, which was 270 euros for the night (although you get a 10% discount if you pay cash). As you might expect, everything was white – floors, walls, furniture etc. It was beautifully done. The room was a good size, with a double bed and a daybed which I imagine a third person could sleep comfortably on. There’s no bath, but a huuuuge shower instead which was great.

Up on the top floor is the library/reading room and roof terrace. They’re both great places to relax – as others have mentioned, there’s a fridge with Prosecco which you can help yourself to. Very welcome after a long day walking round the sights.

Location is great, too – 10 minutes’ walk to St Mark’s Square. I’d recommend this if you’re looking for a quirky, boutique stay close to all the sights. It’s pretty expensive, but then again, so are most places in Venice!

Another great Trip Advisor FAIL! Booked at the Settimo Cielo because it looked like everyone on TripAdvisor loved it and I wanted to try the B&B feel. Firstly, it was already hard to understand wheather you were booking in Settimo Cielo or Bloom (which to clarify is in the exact same building only on different floors.. and yes the "amazing" roof top terrace can be used by both). Arrived there, rang the bell.. and waited... and waited... someone opened the door and we were left wondering around the hotel for about 10 minutes trying to figure out where the reception was...in case you are interested it's in a different building, around the corner, in another hotel.. it seems like 3 hotels are sharing an awkward reception. After wondering around a man came to us with a key to a room, he popped up out of nowhere it was slightly creepy. We arrived to the tiny room put down our bags and were told that we could have a drink on the "amazing" roof top terrace.. What awaited for us there were two people sleeping on the couches, we poured two glasses of the "common" champagne.. i say common because there are 3 bottles of 3 Euro champagne waiting for you in the fridge, enjoyed the not so fizzy champagne anymore and ran away for dinner. Thankfully the entire next day we were out and about and returned only late at night to sleep. We saw no hotel staff AT ALL, some furniture was falling apart (the staircase for example which could be dangerous). Let's just say that maybe this time you shouldn't be trusting Trip Advisor reviews. Only good thing is the central location.

I am writing to contest many of the issues raised in your recent Trip Advisor review of my hotel which I find to be misleading, uninformed and totally at odds with what other guests have written.

Guests from Settimo Cielo have their own keys to come and go as they please and it has often been mentioned that this enhances a stay in Venice as guests feel “at home” whilst having the benefit of a reception that can be reached by simply dialing 9 from their rooms.

In terms of Prosecco (which is actually a D.O.C local Veneto slightly sparkling wine and has nothing at all do with Champagne which is a French product) the fridge is stocked daily and each guests have a fresh bottle allocated to them on arrival.

From when we opened we have had excellent reviews and feedback, not only on Trip Advisor but also from clients who have booked via online agencies such as Booking.com and also great (non paid) coverage in The Telegraph and The Independent newspapers.

We have a strong, loyal and sophisticated client base, with many repeat visitors. We welcome constructive criticism and on the very rare occasion we have had negative feedback we have acted at once to resolve any problems. It is disappointing for me to read your unfair comments that have been posted anonymously that are for the most part without base or substance.
