We needed a hotel within easy reach of car parking and this fit the bill. It’s right beside the canal and a bridge so in a busy place. We didn’t find it unduly noisy and liked seeing and hearing the bustle of the city coming alive in the morning.
I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed when we first arrived - the public areas seemed untidy and in need of a bit of tidying and tlc but things did look better the next day. Our room was in the Walter section of the building and seemed a bit small compared with the photos of canal view rooms and compared with a similarly priced hotel we had just left (on Lake Geneva). However, it is a very old building and the room had everything we needed.
Breakfast was good - the usual variety of cold meats, cheese, bread and pastries.
Staff were really pleasant and helpful
I do think the hotel is overpriced, but then it is in a good position.

over the hotel is a very nice place to stay. It's centrally located . The rooms are quite cozy. The Staff is very helpful. Mosquitoes can give you trouble at night but the mosquitoes so ask for the mosquito repellent at the front desk. The Breakfast served in the morning is OK nothing great about it. Overall a nice place to stay within Budget.

Room Tip: There i no lift in the hotel

Hotel Canal is a lovely hotel in an excellent location, right on the Grand Canal. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean, and the area was quiet. The only negative is that there is no elevator.

When we got to the hotel I was almost afraid to go in. The front looks like it's ready to fall down. Then we walked into the smelly, dated and unclean lobby..the girl at the front desk was not friendly. No rude but not friendly...everything costs...we had to pay tourist tax in euros, could not add it to the room. If we wanted a key to the safe in our room it was a 10 euro cash deposit. Why couldn't they charge the room if we didn't return the key. Very antiquated hotel and service. The room was surprisingly clean and comfortable, but full of mosquitoes. Couldn't figure out how they were getting in. Breakfast was ample and good choices. Would not recommend this hotel and would not stay there again. Was way overpriced!!! 2 nights cost us $660,00 - shocking...

Room Tip: Priced like a luxury hotel...too expensive for what you receive

Very perfect hotel for its situation - just opposite the train station and roughly 20 minutes away from San Marco square. The hotel was clean and tidy and the breakfast was appropriate which had all the necessities.

Room Tip: Very convenient botel
