“Good Choice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 December 2013

We chose this hotel based upon the location. It is located a 5 minute walk from the train station which saves you from a long walk over many bridges and cobbled streets with bags, the expense of a water taxi or hassle of a vaporetto. The hotel is 20 - 30 minutes from the Rialto Bridge and Piazza St. Marco. So it is close enough to both with the additional benefit of being away from the tourist frenzy. Although we did our booking online they had a couple rooms available and gave us the option to upgrade to better rooms. All of the rooms are bigger than the norm in Europe. Ours offered a partial view of the Grand Canal and had a very nice bathroom with a tub. It was very comfortable. The breakfast was good and the staff was very helpful. They were happy to make reservations and give us tips. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We saw three rooms in the main building and they were all nice and bigger than usual. Rooms with a...

This was our first time visiting Venice and we had a lot of questions. The staff were very approachable and friendly and they also recommended some great restaurants.

The hotel itself is a 5 min walk to the train station yet is removed from the hustle and bustle of the main streets.

We stayed at Hotel Canal Grande for a weekend to celebrate a special birthday. It was our first time in Venice and the hotel and its wonderful staff ensured that our trip a huge success.
We booked through Expedia and I contacted the hotel by email prior to our arrival to enquire about transfers to the hotel. The staff replied promptly and helped enormously by booking our water taxi from the airport to the hotel and by booking a restaurant for us on our first night.
The hotel staff are first rate and were determined to make our time at the hotel and in Venice as enjoyable as possible. All staff spoke English and were willing to help with directions around the city, recommending attractions and places to eat and endeavoured to assist with any queries that we had.
The hotel is beautiful and located near to the train station, about 30 minutes-walk from St Mark’s Square in a lovely, less touristy area of the city. Rooms and bathrooms were spotlessly clean and furnished to a high standard in classical Italian style. The breakfast was also excellent – offering a cold buffet with plenty of choice and excellent morning coffee!
I would be delighted to return to this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone travelling to Venice.

Clean Venetian style hotel. Helpful staff. We unexpectedly had to stay one more night and the same price was offered to us! I will definitely come back to Venice and stay here again. I liked the fact it was near the waterbus but tucked away from the busy tourist areas

My wife and I had the opportunity to stay at the Hotel Canal Grande in July. We had the great fortune to have the Antonio Canova room which has a private terrace with a view of the canal.
It was spectacular! The service from everyone was A+ and the room was beautiful. If we are ever in Venice we will definitely stay at the Hotel Canal Grande again!

This place was so helpful, clean and great service. Sitting outside at 10 pm at night drinking wine and beer with other Americans and watching the boats go by, it doesn't get any better than that. We actually came in late and while giving away our room, worked it out that we got another room with them and they were so apologetic about it, but it wasn't their fault. They made it right!
Would definitely stay there again and recommend it!

Booked for a special birthday weekend and special is what the Canal Grande certainly is! Fantastic location, friendly and attentive staff who couldn't do enough for you and a beautiful room! Book the Santa Lucia suite for a wow factor, 3 levels with top one being your own private roof terrace, simply superb!
