“Fantastic”
Reviewed 21 July 2012

I'm lying on the bed in our small but lovely room in the Aqua Palace as I write this. The hotel is a gem with all the vagaries you come to expect in Italian hotels and in Italy in general. The taps in the bathrooms work in opposite directions, the wallpaper is almost overwhelming, the room safe didn't quite work but the staff worked it out in the end. No problems, no worries. The charm of this place is as a result of these lovely little quirks.
The staff are a delight and Sylvia in the breakfast room is a very special person, she makes you feel part of the family and has an uncanny ability to remember everyone's name, 10/10 for her and the service in general.
When we return to Venice we will be staying nowhere else.

Room Tip: Anything with a canal view.

We returned to the Aqua Palace for the second time to celebrate our wedding anniversary after staying here as part of our honeymoon last year. We were not disappointed- we were given a lovely room right beside a little balcony that looks right out over the canal. The rooms are beautifully decorated and have working air con- very important when it's 35degrees! The members of staff at reception addressed us by name each time we had a query (impressive memories!) and were unfailingly polite and helpful. Although the hotel can be a little tricky to find through the warren of streets and canals if you're making your own way there, it is really close to st marks square, restaurants and other sights. It is quite expensive, but it is a fantastic base to explore Venice. We'll definitely be back next year!

Just spent 3 nights at Aqua Palace -it's a wonderful hotel, comfortable, quiet, beautiful decor, good air conditioning, nice breakfast, extremely helpful and friendly staff and very central (once you figure out the tiny streets and find a map with enough detail!). Eyewitness guide map was good. Take a water taxi from the airport and it drops you at the private landing for the hotel. They also arranged a gondola to come and pick us up for a tour and bring us back for the same price as you'd pay at any of the standard stops. A gondola trip is a bit expensive but a must do - would suggest around 8pm as the light is wonderful at this time and not so hot. Some excellent restaurants very close by. We had a superb long weekend.

My husband and I chose this hotel in Venice after reading a number of reviews of Aqua Palace and several other properties, and were so pleased with our choice. We booked a canal view junior suite (#103) and had a lovely view of a smaller canal out one of our two windows (the other looked onto a nearby wall). The room was beautifully decorated, if a bit dark, and was very comfortable - good bed and the air conditioning was wonderful after a hot day in Venice! We separately booked a private water taxi to take us from the airport to the hotel and it was worth every penny. Location was great - close to both Rialto and Piazza San Marco without being in the middle of the crowds, For the most part the staff was friendly - only one gentleman at the front desk was a little less than helpful. Selection at breakfast was perfectly fine. The hotel is pricey but so is just about everything else in Venice. Would absolutely recommend it!

What a great place-- complimentary room service breakfast (croissants, cereal, etc); turn down service with a complimentary liter of water (water is expensive in Venice!); an enormous shower with double sinks; mini-fridge; a balcony with a great view of a little canal; comfortable beds. The elevator even has a little sofa in it!!

Use the hotel website directions to find the hotel. They were excellent. I read other reviews about this place being difficult to find but we had no problem at all.

But. Those trash barges.... they really do start early, and the windows at the hotel don't block out the noise. On this particular trip we stayed in lots of busy areas throughout Paris, Nice, and Florence, and found other hotel windows to do a fabulous job of blocking out noise. That was not the case here at all. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if we would go back for this reason.

However the hotel was a great value. We booked a junior suite with a canal view 6 months in advance for 211 euro, which was competitive among the many expensive accommodations in Venice. It's a great value, IF you don't mind the noise. I guarantee you will not sleep past 7am. There's no way.

Also a little note is that the hairdryer only works when actively pressing a button the handle. Whoever invented/purchased these hairdryers must be bald!

Room Tip: Junior suite with canal view had a great view but was noisy

We booked into the Junior Suite at Aqua Palace as this could accept our family of 4 in a room. We arrived by train into Venice and the water taxi took a swift 15 minutes ride through Grand Canal (could be more spectacular but more expensive on the longer route another way around) and EUR 60 (+EUR 10 if calling through the hotel, any hotel) . We think that this is probably the most natural way to get into the hotel.

Checked in was excellent, staff was very considerate and couldn't be more helpful. Private passwords were assigned to each guest for WIFI (which connection was decent), porter was quick and efficient.

Our room was on the first floor, unfortunately no canal view but no major problem for us as we spent most of our time outside. Hotel has a small dining area which is same as breakfast so there were not much space for bars, etc. But each floor has some good couch and laid back area around the elevator. Breakfast was of good selection and enjoyable in the compact sized area.

Same as what other reviewers said, location of this place is god sent. Easy walking to all attractions, COOP supermarket is not far away plus all great restaurants so there are lots of good things outside.

Upon check out the day manager sent us through to the water taxi. Great service till the end.

All our family members enjoyed this place so much there were no doubt we will be back.
