It was a great thing to be able to see the gondola garage. You can see the long tradition and feel the history here.

There are few of these places left! I only found this because of Marco who I took a photo tour with showed me this place, I would have never found it myself. It is very a very pretty area and you can see some great things getting here. I would highly recommend going to see this before they arent around anymore. They have been doing the work on the gondolas this way for generations.

You cannot miss the very last remaining 'gondolas garage': over a century old, this is the place where gondolas are taken for servicing, in spring the balcony of the owners are covered in colourful geraniums. Pretty, quirky, to be photographed before this too disappears.

It was interesting to see one of the last gondola yards in Venice. We were aware that there once was about 10,000 gondolas plying the waters of Venice, being the main form of transport. The number now left count in the few hundreds.

We saw that the buildings have an alpine look to them, further exemplified by the cascade of flowers on the balcony.

There were two gondolas on stands under cover undergoing repair. Nearby is the very attractive Church of San Trovaso.

Just a couple of the attractions in the marvellous Dorsoduro.
