Owner description: It is said that Napoleon called San Marco "the drawing room of Europe." And it is a breathtakingly beautiful place. But the square has long been a lure for massive numbers of pigeons, drawn by the massive numbers of tourists who readily feed them. While the tourists happily post for photos amid the flock, there are concerns that the birds' presence--and what they leave behind--will damage the centuries old architecture and art work.

Had a wonderful time in Venice! Piazza San Marco is always exciting day or night. Whether people watching, shopping, refreshments or music listening, the piazza always entertains!

A must see when visiting Venice. Very busy but still got some great photos and memories. I wouldn’t eat or drink around the square as it is very expensive, save it for a smaller cafe along one of the quieter streets :)

There are so many little side streets and hidden gems in Venice, then if you prefer a more secluded experience I would recommend avoiding the square. Take a stroll in any direction for 10 mins away from here and you will experience such a different city.

Although the square is very busy, we were pleasantly surprised that the restaurant/cafe prices were not as extravagant as we were expecting. Just check out prices which are readily on view

It was too crowded but the view and the 3 classical bands in the cafeterias, especially at night, were a unique experience.
