Owner description: It is said that Napoleon called San Marco "the drawing room of Europe." And it is a breathtakingly beautiful place. But the square has long been a lure for massive numbers of pigeons, drawn by the massive numbers of tourists who readily feed them. While the tourists happily post for photos amid the flock, there are concerns that the birds' presence--and what they leave behind--will damage the centuries old architecture and art work.

We went to a couple of shops and one of them was the Serendipity, San Marco, Shop No. 14 at the Piazza. The customer service was excellent from the two shopkeepers. The shop sells handmade jewellery and some very lovely designs. The two ladies went out of their way to find the right size and style for whatever either of us wanted to try and buy. The rest of the shops were equally good too in terms of display and value.

Beautiful buildings and nice restaurants, but it was so crowded that it you could not enjoy what it had to offer

An obvious must do attraction in Venice. Very busy, with loads of restaurants lining the square, but a good vibe and impressive architecture. Glad I went.

Good place to start a walking tour of Venice. Highly recommend seeing this from the tower within the square.

I have always wanted to go to Venice, so the moment we turned down an alley and approached the entrance St Mark's square, it put a tear in my eye. The sheer oppulence, the incredible architecture, the details, it is all so marvelous and will be a vision I will never forget.
We were there around Christmas so the crowds were low and we were able to sit and soak it all in.
