Owner description: Considered the true heart of Venice, this landmark bridge, characterized by its 24-foot arch, is built on approximately 12,000 wooden pilings that still support the bridge more than 400 years after it was built.

The Rialto Bridge offers some of the most iconic views of the Grand Canal and it's an important reference point for navigating around Venice. We were surprised, though, by how many enchanting little shops are perched right on the bridge. There are three pathways across the bridge, one on each side with the bridge railing on one side and shops on the other, then a third path right down the middle with shops on both sides. We spent a lot more time exploring here than we thought we would. It can be crowded but that that's to be expected at such an iconic landmark. People were friendly and cooperative as each posed for the same panoramic photo, one after the other. Plan to spend a little bit of time here; don't just walk over when you're rushing somewhere else.

This bridge is a sight to behold. Never quite knew what to expect before we got there - we were not disappointed.

Very busy at all hours of the day and evening.

Some lovely shops - particularly teh jewellers. Managed to get my husband to buy me a beautiful charm for a necklace, and a great deal on a watch also.

As well as walking the bridge, you must take time to see it from teh water - either via Gondola or Vaparretto.

Gorgeous.

If you follow the signs to the Realto, you can pretty much track the best parts of venice on foot.
the sings are everywhere and easy to follow.

The bridge itself is awesome, really busy, lots of stores on it. Great place to take pics as well.

This bridge connects the main parts of Venice so if you are in Venice, you will be at the Realto!

The Rialto, particularly at night, is so Romantics with great views and pictures to be had on the Grand Canal as gondolas and boats pass below. The East side has good shopping and Gelato, the West side has nice restaurants.

A must visit spot but get up early in the morning to enjoy the serenity without the hoards (and I mean HOARDS!) of tourists and tacky shops selling tuk. Much better photos early morning as well.
