“away from the madding crowds”
Reviewed 11 September 2013

Stayed here for 3 nights after a cruise and found it to be quiet and easy to get around. Plenty of eating establishments and lovely views across to St Marks and the waterfront.

“Peace and quiet”
Reviewed 25 July 2013

I love staying on Giudecca. A quiet and peaceful, mainly residential island, but its central vaporetto stop, Palanca, is only one stop from Zaterre and four from San Marco, and has a 24 hour service. The waterfront restaurants have great views across the Giudecca canal, especially pretty at night. There are are a few hotels here, and also the possibility of booking an apartment - if you do, there's a good Co-op behind the Palanca stop. Explore and see a slice of daily Venetian life and some hidden items, like the boatbuilders with a lunchtime cafe at the back, the old convent with a mix of social housing and some artisan workshops inside and the Friday market at Sacca Fisola. And if you happen to be in Venice 13-15 September this year then pop over wander tound and see Giudecca's Festival delle Arti, a community arts festival which promises music, art and more - having been drawn into making fish to decorate an apartment block I'm rather sorry to be back home and missing this.

“Not too touristy, nice area to walk around”
Reviewed 17 June 2013

I went to La Giudecca for a glass blowing demonstration and spent some additional time on this island. It is pleasantly surprising how calm and not overcrowded it is. If you are looking for a break from the heavy crowds and the hustle and bustle of the busier islands, I would reccommend spending some time here!

“Quiet place with beautiful walks”
Reviewed 16 April 2013

Just 5 minutes by ferry from the busy crowds the island of Giudecca offers peace and quiet. Stroll around and enjoy for example the exquisite hidden garden of the hotel Cipriani. Walk through the blocks of the inhabitants and see some of the Venetians everyday life.

“Quite and not overcrowded”
Reviewed 31 October 2012

The best place to book accomodation at. It is only 1-2 stops from San Marco and main land but it's much nicer and not that crowded. There are few restaurants there which are not that overpriced and overcrowded. We had apartment booked at the back of Guidecca with lovely water view. There is also cheap supermarket just by the water which is a plus as well.
