We have recently returned home following a fantastic stay at the Cipriani in Venice. This was our second visit there and once again we had a wonderful experience. We had a junior suite with a lagoon view which comprised a very spacious and beautifully furnished open-plan bedroom/living area, a wonderful marble bathroom with enormous bath and roomy terrace with loungers and outdoor chairs and table.
We ate in both the Cips Club and Fortuny restaurants and thoroughly enjoyed both experiences. The Cips Club was particularly fun with very friendly staff and an impressive (and good value) wine list. The Fortuny Restaurant achieved the perfect atmosphere superb food in a setting of relaxed formality.
One thing in particular that has made both our stays in this hotel so memorable has been the staff. They are so friendly and helpful and really make us feel relaxed and at home. We were particularly pleased with the way, when conversing with us, they were able to allow me to practise my Italian whilst also being sensitive to the fact my partner prefers to speak in English. The Concierge was especially helpful in arranging an excursion to Villa Pisani for us, plus providing accurate and helpful information about various places we wanted to visit in the city. We also very much enjoyed the friendliness of the lady who greeted us upon our arrival, the bar staff and the man organising the shuttle boat to and from Venice.
One thing that took us a little by surprise, and would have been helpful to have known in advance, was that there would be an opportunity to leave a gratuity on the credit card upon checking out, which would then be shared between all the staff. We had been leaving tips in the restaurants etc throughout our stay, which of course only rewarded the staff who were looking after us directly. We would do this better next time.

There are luxury hotels and luxury hotels.
If you want acres of marble, 6 pools and an aquarium, this is not the place for you. If you want good taste, a beautifully appointed room and staff who are the epitome of discrete efficiency, then it is worth every penny. There is certainly a snobbish pleasure in being wafted from the private pier at San Marco on a private launch whilst all around you queue for the vaporetto.
We had a poolside suite with a private patio which was enjoyable even in October.
Excellent breakfast. First rate bar staff, memorable for recommending an outstanding grappa after interrogating me about my taste in such (and it was one of the cheaper ones on their extensive list). The poolside restaurant serves excellent light food.
Dinner at the Fortuny was not the best I've ever had by a long way (see separate review) and the only greyish spot on an otherwise delightful stay.
I simply wish I could afford to come here more often.

We have just returned from 4 nights at the Cipriani. Amongst the most gracious and classic of hotels. It is superb, flawless, divine to stay there. We enjoyed every moment. Grazi to the wonderful staff.

My husband and stayed in one of the beautiful villas for three nights recently. The villa itself was beautiful, view was lovely of the gardens, and being a bathroom snob, the bathroom was decadent! The staff could not have been more helpful, friendly and accomodate. Loved staying here as it was just a five minute boat ride into Venice. Venice, being the busy and soemtimes crowded place that it is, The Cip' was a welcome, quiet retreat in the afternoon to re-group and rest up. I would not hesitate to stay here again, and would recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Venice. You can't go wrong....

Room Tip: Villas overlooking the garden area are breathtaking. There is a tiny, two-person elevator, with ma...

Having stayed at some of the best hotels in the world, I may be a bit of a hotel snob, but there are certain things one expects of a hotel in this class. Service was perfect, cleanliness top and the location perfect. That said, the decor is old and tired, everything is held in brown, beige and sand tones which adds to a tired old fashion feel. And must the complimentary tee in the hall and fitness area be cold (even if the sign says hot tea)??? As a Scandinavian I do l appreciate a tee kettle in the room ....

Myself and my partner arrived by Orient Express holidays and booked a deluxe double room. We were left disappointed after being shown to our room 316 to discover that the living room area of the suite had a damp problem under the main window which was rather unsightly, a light bulb was missing from one of the main table lamps in the living room, the sofas were dirty and tatty, the curtains were shabby and not hung correctly in the bedroom and living room area, the wood surround of the air conditioning unit in the living needed French polishing, the wardrobe door handles were loose, there were dirty marks on the fabric Walls in the bedroom and there were cobwebs around the ceiling area of the bedroom. We called down to reception to advise of our disappointment and Francesco the manager popped up to the room immediately. He could clearly see the issue with this room and arranged for us to be shown 2 alternative rooms. I must say the room he gave us room 405 was beautiful and we were certainly happy with our stay at the Cipriani Hotel - the room consisted of the lagoon view as we had previously booked, with 3 balconies one of which had a 360 degree view, coupled with a living room, study area and a gorgeous bathroom. We appreciated an offer of dinner on the hotel in the fantastic restaurant Fortuny which we would highly recommend. Our entire stay at the Ciprini Hotel continued with great service and fantastic food and our arrival problem was forgotten by the morning after the 1st night. We will return and book room 405 it's worth every penny. The complimentary boat service provided by the hotel is excellent and very well managed. The treatments in the spa sheer bliss and highly recommended.

Thank you Francesco and all your team your fantastico !!!!!

Room Tip: Room 405 for the bet 360 degree view in Venice

This was the second time our family has had the good fortune to spend time at the Cipriani, and each time we were treated with kindness, class and wonderful service. It is difficult to put into words just how lovely the property and the staff are, but if you have a chance, this is one place you must visit. The rooms are fine, but the elegance of the pool, the grounds, the shuttle to st. marks square, and the restaurants are legendary. The concierge staff knows everything there is to know about Venice, and Roberto makes you feel like you are home each time you arrive at the dock. The prices are high, but the memories are priceless.
