Upon arriving at Hotel Cipriani we were a little worried we were a little too out the way for a city break and we might loose some of the experience. When we took the hotels boat (runs 24 hours a day for free) to St Marks sq we arrived and the place is madness, it's packed with tourists and you have to battle your way everywhere. When you return to Hotel Cipriani with it's beautiful gardens and tranquil setting it really is a beautiful place to recharge and take in the true beauty of the area.

Just returned today from Venice where we stayed at the Cipriana for a long weekend. This place is without doubt the best Venice has to offer with fabulous amenities and truly outstanding staff, it's often said that a good business is what it is because of the staff and in this instance this can't be any more true. A special mention should go to Roberto who seems to know everyone and can't do enough for you, along with Franko the barman who serves the best cocktails. Also Massimo the resident pianist is very good and charming too. speaking with other guests it's clear why this hotel is successful and many return trips are made, we will do the same too. With the warm weather we had it was also wonderful to use the fabulous pool and gardens.

Room Tip: Any of the first floor rooms overlooking the pool area.

Our two-night stay at the Cirpriani was part of our Orient Express train journey. The hotel though old was very well maintained. Our room was spotless and big by European standards! Bathroom was clean and had first-class bath amenities.

Staff were professional and friendly. They make you feel like returning guests. Always ready with a smile. Breakfast buffet was very good and had a lot of choices.

Though the hotel is in another island across the main tourist area of San Marco, their 24/7 boat service was very convenient to get you across. But to be honest, my husband and I welcomed the peace and quiet of the hotel's location.

Room Tip: We stayed at their Garden View Room and it was perfect!

Yes, it might be expensive, but it's in a great location, the staff cannot do more if they tried!

It may be getting a bit tired in places, but this only adds to its overall charm. The food is excellent, and the hospitality and service is way beyond anywhere else I have stayed. The rooms are wonderfully decorated with plenty of room (I had one overlooking the lagoon) with plenty of technology if you need a fix....but why would you? you're in Venice!

I would highly recommend a stay if you ever get a chance.

Room Tip: The ones overlooking the lagoon are probably the best if you can get one - great view and probably a...

We have been to the Cipriani for our 40th after celebrating our 25th at the same hotel. We consider it the BEST hotel in Venice. The staff are extremely polite and helpful especially Robert.
The breakfast is a good buffet served in a lovely dining room and weather permitting outside overlooking the lagoon.Lunch and drinks can be taken from the poolside bar.
There is no problem being on Guidecca island as the hotel has a private launch which ferries you back and forth to St Marks Square 24/7 .
The evening of our Wedding Anniversary we ate at Oro which was very good but be advised it is pricey.
We will be back.j

My partner and I spent a wonderful weekend break here at Hotel Cipriani, If you want to escape from the real world, this is the right choice!

The Hotel is located a short complimentary ride across from San Marco square which allows you to transit back and forth as you please.

As to the facilities in this five star palace, I cannot fault them. Our room had a jaccuzzi; two televisions (one facing the bed, the other round the corner adjacent to the bar) and a huge balcony overlooking the pool.

The service staff are extremely professional, kind, and go out of their way to make all guests feel welcome! I cannot wait to return and it was worth every penny.

This hotel is breathtakingly beautiful, the rooms are the height of luxury, no expense has been spared and we loved and appreciated all the local glass, the decor and all the extra touches that made each area special. The pool is warm and inviting, the gardens well kept and beautiful and the breakfasts are the best in the world. But, we got the impression that the level of service is directly linked to the size of your tip. This was a holiday for our retirement which we had planned and saved for for many years. We aren't rich or famous and can only tip with €5 not €50 and felt we were treated accordingly. We decided to really push the boat out on the first day and book a meal at Cips restaurant. We asked the man on the desk if we could reserve a table for 7pm which is when we usually eat at home. He said he had nothing available for any night at that time. The earliest he could do was 9.30 p.m. He said that Italians never eat until 10p.m.(which begs the question as to why the restaurant was full before!) I had lunch at midday and I'm not an Italian. He offered us no alternative and was very dismissive and made me feel small. Eventually he said as there were only 2 of us he could squeeze us in the next day at 8.30p.m. so we booked that. We eventually ate that night at the poolside bar but felt he could at least have suggested that, or room service but he was most unhelpful. We realised later that the restaurants don't open until 7.30 but he didn't tell us that. When we eventually got to eat at Cips we weren't really suprised to find the restaurant only half full with many spare tables. We were well dressed in suit and good smart new clothes bought especially so I can't think of any reason for this attitude. On another occasion we were woken late at night by the doorbell and I had to answer in my nightdress. A man said he had come to collect our room service tray and we hadnt had room service, he had the wrong room. This wasn't mentioned later and there was no apology. I expected better from a place of this high standard. On the last day we vacated the room after breakfast but our taxi wasn't booked until 6.30p.m. We went over to the mainland for the morning but spent the afternoon in the hotel and no-one even said hello. At 6 we asked the whereabouts of our cases and were told rather rudely they would be brought out but not until 6.30 when the taxi was due. They were put onto the taxi (and we tipped both gents involved) but when we took them off we found one case was damaged with the metal struts caved in as if something heavy had been dropped on it. They were fine when we left them that morning. I will say that service at breakfast and in Cips and by the maid was excellent, it was only the desk staff we had problems with.
