Quality hotel you can tell the owners take pride in their hotel. Not another hotel chain. Suites are very large! So nice! Perfectly located next to St. Marks Square and all the nice restaurants. I really must say it's a great value compared to the other large hotels. You're not directly on the canal so it's quieter yet you're privileged enough to be surrounded by the best and next to Bauer Il Palazzo

Room Tip: If you're a late sleeper bring ear plugs as usual. That's not the hotel's fault. It...

Our hotel room had a great view of the canal and was just a couple blocks from St Marks square. You could open the window and hear some people singing on the gondolas, which was very lovely. The rooms are a good size, and have an electrical system with many switches that takes some getting used to. The front desk staff spoke english and the concierge staff spoke both english and spanish. The hotel has a beautiful bar/restaurant that is right on the water with a wonderful view. Breakfast was included with our stay, but we weren't able to go because we overslept. WIFI was available, but not included for the price. It cost $20 for the entire stay, whether for one night, or several, which was reasonable. One of the concierge staffers told us that all restaurants in Venice close at 10:30, but some are actually open until midnight. Some of the staff seemed a bit snooty, but that seems to come with the territory at a 5 star hotel. They did not have an iron available as per "company policy", and instead encouraged us to use their laundry service, which is a ridiculous 15 Euro for a shirt. If you dont mind paying for convenience, I would recommend this place. Just an FYI: Venice is expensive in general and hard to get around.

I was privileged to return to the Bauer Hotel again this summer after my memorable stay last year. Although my room was not as large as the room I had last year, It was larger than most European hotel rooms. The room was beautifully furnished in what appears to be antique furniture. The bed cover was gorgeous covered in small hand-tied bows and the room had a beautiful mural over the bed. The room was also exceptionally clean and the bed was very comfortable. We also had a nice closet, refrigerator, and safe. Once again we were pleased to have a window overlooking the canal at the side of the hotel. This canal has a gondola station, so we frequently heard the gondoliers singing. The bathroom of this room was also smaller than what I experienced last year, but still exceptionally appointed in all marble. The only drawback in the bathroom was that the bidet had been installed too close to the vanity sink. I was always afraid that I might drop something into the bidet.
The absolute best trait of the Bauer (other than its location) is the restaurant patio overlooking the canal. I can think of few travel experiences that give me as much pleasure as eating a delicious leisurely breakfast while watching the morning boat traffic on the Venice canal. The breakfast buffet is included with the price of the room and the food is wonderful. The Bauer staff is absolutely the only European restaurant staff that can make good iced tea to accommodate a USA southerner's love of cold tea. Throughout Europe if I ask for cold tea, they usually look as if I had reported a UFO sighting. The Bauer is also the only European restaurant that has accomplished good American coffee.
In addition to the excellent accommodations and restaurant, the Bauer is very conveniently located to everything.
I highly recommend this hotel but be sure to ask for a "superior" room. Some couples in our group were not as pleased with their accommodations.
I was fortunate enough to have a "superior" room last year and remembered to request the same this year.
If I return to Venice, I will definitely stay at the beautiful Bauer Hotel.

This hotel is in a great location right on the grand canal. I was disappointed with the view we had from our room. It was to a green wall. It wasn't to another building it was part of the hotel. It was as if there just was a little opening in the middle of the hotel. Other than the horrible view, the room was very comfortable. The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. We had a wonderful buffet breakfast and sat with a beautiful view of the grand canal. We did not make reservations for dinner because we really didn't know when we would want to eat but we found out that reservations are preferred or else they will seat you in an okay spot just not covered. Dinner was really just okay for me. It was a fancy dinner with very small portions. You definitely need to order a 1st and 2nd course. One is not enough. If I stayed again I would make sure the room had a better view. They do charge for Wifi.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view of the canal.

The hotel rooms were roomy and nice. The staff friendly and helpful. The patio outside had a great view of the canal with a small canal that the gondola's would come down. As you admired your view of Venice, you would hear beautiful singing from a singer from the Gondola as they passed within 3 feet of the patio. The breakfast buffet had a variety of food, very fresh fruit and vegetables. Something for everyone. When I go back to Venice, I will always stay at the Bauer Hotel.

Our room was comfortable, well decorated, with a partial canal view. Our luggage had been delayed and I was really impressed with the help that we got from the concierge service. The De Pisis restaurant served excellent food that was acceptably priced and given an interesting touch by the Japanese chef. The roof-top breakfast site with great views was an unexpected pleasure.
One recommendation at the airport--don't pre-book a limo. Our luggage was delayed and we stood in line for an hour and a half at the luggage window dedicated to Air Canada affiliates. This translated into a 170 Euro limo delay penalty for a limo that drove 3 minutes to the boat-dock. There are other options available, including on site limos.

Excellent hotel. Full service breakfast included. Nice patio out back along the Grand Canal and a smaller side canal that the gondola's come down. Every once in a while there would be a signing gondola passing by, which added to the atmosphere. Drinks are at a price (10 euros for a glass of wine). It's a few minutes walk to St Mark's Square, but far enough away that the bells do not bother you. Our rooms were on a side street, and the morning the trash is collected, it's noisy. Ask for a quite room. I booked thru Hotel.com and the price changed several times when logging on. The concierge recommend several restaurants, one of which was full of tourists, which we specifically said we did not want, but the other was great.
