“Beautiful breakfast watching the sun sparkle off the Grand Canal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 May 2014

What a pleasant surprise, walking through an un-assuming door into an unexpectedly light and lovely loby. Very polite and helpful staff who showed us around some of the lovelier parts of the hotel .. . Excellent breakfast made even better by sitting on the lovely terrace over looking the grand canal and watching the gondalas go by. Altogether a superb situation, handy for everyting. Harry's Bar is next door (although a little overated I thought) !

We booked our room at the partner hotel "Palazzo Salvadego", which was very difficult to find--luckily the neighboring businesses were helpful. Upon arrival we were informed that we had been transferred to the Hotel Monaco. What a great surprise! Modern and beautiful lobby, helpful front desk staff. Room was small, but very nice, clean, and had a great nights sleep. Location is right off the square and on the Grand Canal.

Great location and very friendly staff.
The terace on the Grand Canal is a very, very nice feature, that you can enjoy for breakfast, lunch, drinks and dinner and not to mention it is just opposite my favorite place Harry's Bar.
Very nice overall ambiance.

We spent one night at this Hotel. We arrived by water taxi. The lobby is so attractive with works of art - comfortable chairs and interesting books. Our room was comfortable. Beautiful bed - very quiet room. Dinner was superb. White and green asparagus of a quality I have never seen before. Excellent risotto. Slept like logs. Breakfast was served on the outside terrace - watching the gondolas being cleaned for another busy day. The church of Santa Maria Della Salute is diagonally opposite the terrace.
As a wheelchair user this hotel is beautifully placed for the Piazza San Marco. Turn left from the side door and then straight ahead to avoid the steps down onto the Piazza. Turn right to get the vaporetto. The water taxis may be romantic, but you need to be able to bend to get into them and I fell getting out. There are quite wide deep steps to three sides of the piazza and no hand rails to help yourself down.
Excellent service.

The location of the hotel is bang opposite the main canal of Venice . Also it is very close to the water front area and the city square. The service is perfect and courteous . Should not miss the breakfast outside overlooking the canal. Overall a very satisfying experience in Venice.

Room Tip: Select the room overseeing the canal.

Venice itself is quite interesting in that it's much smaller (like in the "square") than you think it will be, but there really is nowhere like it on earth.

Incredible art in the religious buildings, interesting shops (Venetian glass, etc) and just overall a great place to visit.

I was there on a work related trip, and we were taken to a restaurant on one of the islands - typically we set off in this little boat and there was a massive thunder and lightening storm, a bit hairy at times, but a great visit.

Highly recommend it.

. . . experience the discreet and perfect service of the Monaco y Gran Canale, especially when the outdoor restaurant allows a diner an afternoon of watching Regata. Worth the rather exorbitant menu prices..

Room Tip: Ask for one facing onto the Canal, of course. You're only a couple of minutes from San Marco, so...
