“Fantastic Hotel”
Reviewed 30 March 2014 via mobile

Great location. Nice and quiet easy access over bridge. Water taxi available outside hotel and some great relaxing bars just opposite. Also an amazing little shop where owners son does all the painting.

Food is very good and a huge breakfast selection. Good wifi access but rooms slightly tired

I stayed two days with my family. The hotel is very close to train station and Piazza Roma. Easy to arrive. It's clean, well organized and services are too completed. We love the room and hotel in general.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms have a extra bed for children.

We chose this hotel based on its proximity to the train station. It was maybe a 5 minute way to get to from the train station, directly across the canal. The lobby is very cool, the elevator is tiny, the room was nice sized and the bathroom was large. We liked the decorations and furniture in the room. The breakfast room was beautiful and the food was great. The hotel's location is maybe 15 - 20 minute walk to most tourist stops, the ghetto is maybe 30 minutes away.

This may have been one of my all time favorite hotels that we used in Italy. We wanted a hotel that was near the train station, that would allow us to walk over 2 bridges and be settled. Its a nice large hotel with a very nice lobby, breakfast buffet room and bar.

Our room,426, was nicely appointed, and over looked the canal below. After arriving on the train, we sat in the nice quiet bar area, and tried several appetizers and beers. We ventured out to the grand canal, and to see the Rialto Bridge and its view of the canal and historic structures.

We took advantage of the motor boat tour out to the island of Murano to see the glassblowing techniques and many wonderful art glass houses. We invested in a couple of glass sconces, enjoyed lunch in a cafe, shopped, watched a very heavy ready mix concrete truck aboard a floating barge, pump its contents into new footings to build a local business.

We took the water taxi around the grand canal from one end to another. The water taxi drivers are very quick to yell at passengers to get them to move on and off the boats. "Time is money"

The San Marco's plaza and Doges palace is well worth the visit. Give the palace several hours of your time just to soak up the history, the prison, and magnitude of it all. Take the elevator up to top of the San Marco Bell tower and its even better if the bells are ringing while you are there. Splurge on a 13 Euro beer or dessert just to sit in the cafes along the San Marco's plaza for an hour and enjoy the sun, music, and people going by.

Swing by the city open air market, if you don't need to buy food, just to witness the fresh food that seems to be grown just outside the city where it can be seen by train passengers as they approach Venice. The market stalls feature any and all the seafood imaginable and loads of fresh vegetables.

Take any street and a good map and strike out to see how many small piazza cafes you can discover hidden in among various neighborhoods. Locals seemed very friendly to help to get us pointed in the right direction.

This is our third trip to the Papadopoli and it didn't disappoint. The staff was excellent as always. The breakfast buffet is very nicely done and the staff there is super too. The hotel is only a 5 min walk from the train station, but anyone who has been to Venice knows that is not always so easy as there is one huge and one small bridge along the way. This trip, the front desk suggested a porter service. For only 7 Euros per bag, a lovely man with a cart comes to wheel your bags over the bridges for you. Very civilized! Will definitely stay at the Papadopoli again. Keep up the good work!
