“A Truely 'Venetian' Hotel”
Reviewed 29 August 2014

I arrived by Jet2 at Marco Polo airport and getting to the hotel was easy. The hotel is a medium size hotel with a four star rating. It has a real old world Venetian look to it with chandeliers and a lot of beautiful polished wood. It is kept spotless by the staff even if some of the rooms are starting to show their age. It has a beautiful small intimate bar with a reading/sitting room adjoining it. The reception area is very inviting to walk into. The breakfast buffet is very good and offers both hot and cold food, refreshed frequently. The guests are from all over but mostly thirty plus.

We did not want to be in the hustle and bustle around St Marco so we chose this area about forty minutes walk from there. If you arrive by express bus at Pizzale de Roma (the main travel hub of Venice) it is a three minute walk with only one bridge to cross. We had intended to travel by water taxi at 102 Euros each way but were told how easy the journey by express bus was at 6 Euros and were very glad we made that choice! Just outside there are several cafe bars offering various choices at reasonable prices. The Concierge can arrange several trips for you at reasonable prices. There are many tourist shops plus those for locals within five minutes walk of the hotel.
The room had a pleasant 'Venetian' feel to the decor and was an ample size and spotless. It had a TV with many channels and decent air-conditioning. It had a fridge containing a mini bar. The bathroom was also very good offering both shower and bath.
Have some good walking shoes as Venice makes you walk a lot, with little bridges everywhere and lots of steps to get over!

Room Tip: Ask for one on higher floor overlooking the canal

This is a really lovely hotel; the staff were all friendly and helpful. It is very easy to find when arriving from the airport, we opted to arrive by coach and it was just a five minute walk away. Our room was nicely furnished, very clean and comfortable. There was a nice variety of food for breakfast and everything was replenished regularly. the location is ideal for getting around as it is just a few minutes walk away from trains, buses and water transport. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I travelled by easyjet from Switzerland on 6th August (very cheap and good air service) to Venice then hopped on a bus for a 15 minute ride to Roma Piazza, where you can walk to the Hotel Papadopoli in 5 minutes, just one bridge to negotiate. The Reception Staff were very helpful and I was given a delightful historic old room overlooking a canal and with a balcony.
The room was spacious and clean and had a nice shower / bath and bathroom facilities. Wifi was free and there was TV also. The bed was very big and comfortable.
I paid for breakfast and ½ board in advance. The breakfast was worth it but the ½ board meant that you could only have a minimal choice of 4 food types for lunch or dinner and most were seafood spaghetti dishes. I managed to get a spaghetti dish with meat sauce, but really I would have been better off paying on the day as the choice was better. There are so many food places around as well and not expensive. There is a good, sit outside restaurant, directly opposite on the canal that has great cappuccinos for 2 euro and nice dishes as well. It seems to open from very early until wee hours of the morning and whilst convenient, not so good if you want to sleep! The bridge in front is also noisy as it serves as one of the main entry points to Venice proper.
Still and all the hotel is in a great location and easy to get to. Best to just buy a ticket for the bus at the airport for around 10 or 7 euro and then walk from Roma Piazza. Boat service seem to cost 100 euro and taxis about the same so avoid them. The train station is also very close to the hotel with two bridges to cross but only about 12 minutes away. For exploring Venice you just walk outside the front door and you are on the way. By foot it is really a bit harder than you think as so many little streets, lanes and canals, but a good map and google phone maps help. I think the gondoliers have priced themselves out of business and seem to really be only for show, going up and down a few canals and that’s it, so walking is the go.
One should never complain about anything in hotels in Italy as the reaction is one of, well that is not possible! The shower hose had a big hole in it and the cream / milk stuff for in room coffee on one occasion was curdled. All was fixed but ‘had never happened before’.
Overall I was quite satisfied with this hotel but would not prepay for main meals again. There really are restaurants around almost every corner in Venice and also take away pizzas and chips and rolls etc so lots of variety around.
I booked with Accor on their 50% sale and free breakfast but of course as with most of the hotels I booked under this nothing was available and the price was the same as booking direct. I guess I received some points that’s about all! Hardly worth the membership fees.

Room Tip: Front rooms on canal can be noisy if near the bridge or opposite the Chinese run Italian restaurant.

Stayed here 3 nights. We had a room on the 4th floor on the corner with a balcony and views over the canal. So easy to there from train station. Two choices. 1st option: come out of train station turn right and go over large glass bridge. Then veer towards left and go over little bridge. This should bring you to a gate into a garden. Go through. Hotel just there.
2nd option. Come out of train station. Cross bridge on left side closest to station. Once over bridge turn right and keep going til you reach another bridge. Go up those steps but don't cross over bridge. Just take steps down to the left of you. This will take you down a path along canal. Walk to the end. Hotel is salmon coloured and on the corner. Turn corner, cross over bridge and you're there. Must buy a few day pass for water bus. We didn't and it got costly. 1 day 20€, 3 day 25€. It covers all travel within Venice and for Murano Burano which you must do! Hotel breakfast was our favourite.

First, take a water taxi from the airport. An absolutely stunning ride which drops you off at the door. This hotel does have a perfect location with both the train and bus station within a 3 minute walk. The staff is very friendly. The hotel is beautiful. Like most hotels in Europe the rooms are small, but were very clean. This was the second time we stayed here and I would highly recommend

Room Tip: The rooms are not cheap, but if you have the extra money a view of the canals is perfect.

This justly is a very good 4 star hotel. Whilst we travelled by rail and is was no more than a 10 minute walk from the station it is on a minor canal with landing stage so travel by water taxi is an option. Public areas are very pleasant with comfortable lounge and bar with excellent service. The dining room - where breakfast is served - is opulent and nicely furnished. Breakfast itself is one on the best buffets we have enjoyed with a wide variety of fresh fruit, cold and hot fare and pastries etc. The juices are freshly squeezed. Rooms area reasonable size, well equipped and air conditioned. This area of Venice near Piazza Roma is delightful with plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants and well worth exploring although first time visitors will want to see San Marco etc all within a comfortable walking distance.

I wanted to write a review for this hotel because I believe it to be a world class hotel with a superb staff. I stayed there with my two children and we had a magnificent time. The staff was profession, courteous, and extremely friendly. The hotel itself was very very well maintained and luxurious. Everything about the hotel including location was top flight. I would recommend this hotel to anyone desirous of staying in Venice.

Room Tip: Don't be afraid to ask the hotel staff for information etc. They were extremely helpful to my an...
