“A beautiful Venetian hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 February 2013 via mobile

Had a lovely stay in this hotel, full of true Venetian charm and splendour. Very comfortable large double room - excellent service throughout - everyone willing to help. Breakfast served in a room overlooking The Grand Canal - food very good. Would definitely recommend very highly.

Stayed February 2013, travelled as a couple

Booked this hotel for 2 nights on Hotwire before continuing on to Trieste for a cruise of the Adriatic. Arrived into Venice from Rome via train and took the Line 1 Vaporetto and alighted at San Stae. A few small canals over, and of course many stairs, I followed the sign and found the hotel. I was informed that the hotel had experienced a burst pipe and I would be moved to a "sister" hotel. Unfortunately for this hotel, the hotel they moved me too was spectacular and I was then moved back here for the second night. There is nothing wrong with this place, it is in beautiful Palazzo with a courtyard, but after my stay at the other property it is was no comparison. The room was fine, although my Sky Satellite wasn't working, bed was comfortable and of course location was great. Breakfast was in a little room with a window/balcony overlooking the Grande Canal. There was a wide choice of foods and the hotel was quite popular.

Overall I enjoyed my stay in Venice and found the property to be worth the price paid.

We stayed at the charming 14th century house San Cassiano Ca' Favretto on our second visit to Venice and loved the friendly, easy-going staff, the quirky decor and the sense of being away from the hustle and bustle while still being only 4 minutes walk from everything.
The hotel is on the Canal Grande which means you can be sailed straight to the entrance - it also means that you can sit on the tiny deck with generous evening drinks...
Rooms are decorated in typical old Venetian style and are both pleasant and large, bathrooms also. We really enjoyed the coffee and breakfast here. Falling asleep and waking to the lapping waters of the canal is just the essence of Venice, and you get this experience even if your room isn't right on Canal Grande.

A wealth of restaurants are only a brief walk away, for instance the really small one on the Calle de Pin just behind the hotel - delicious home-made pasta and the sense of being in your grandmothers dining room.
We will definitely return to this hotel - perfectly situated with great staff.

This hotel is delightfully situated in a true neighborhood, tucked away off the beaten path, and directly on the Grand Canal. It is about a 3 minute walk from the San Stae #1vapporetto stop. I was in a 'standard' room, traveling solo, and it was fine. The hotel is not luxurious, but very comfortably appointed.
Getting out to Rialto is easy, left, right, left, left out the front entrance and straight on and you are there in less than 5 minutes. There are signs to the hotel strategically placed, albeit when you are already 'there", but believe it: once you get in and out one or two times, you can do it blindfolded. Plot it out on the online map the hotel provides your first time there, and you are set.
The staff is very friendly and intelligent, particularly so if you acknowledge you are in Venice, not Disney World. You will be received as you are.
The breakfast room is pleasant, a bit crowded at peak times but no one had to wait for a table during my visit at Carnivale. The selection is as good as anything you will find wandering about the area for breakfast. Italians aren't keen on big breakfasts, and it is obvious they are trying to accommodate other preferences.
Lots of good restaurants within easy walking distance. I love La Zucca, on Calle del Tintor @ Ponte de Megio.
I would definitely stay here again! (and hope to. . . )

Room Tip: I was not on the canal, still I heard boats outside my window from down the alley. If you choose a c...

Our room for 4 was large, spacious and well maintained. Decorated in a venetian style complete with chandelier.
The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, the bar prices very very reasonable for Venice( 12,50 euros for a bottle of wine), the terrace overlooking the grand canal fantastic to "spend a moment".
The breakfast more than adequate with hot bacon and eggs, toast, pastries, fruit, mixed meats and cheeses, although the juice not so great.
The whole experience was fantastic and at the price we booked for , we were unbeliavably lucky.
Can be a bit tricky to find the first time, but afterwards you realise this is a very central location with Rialto Bridge just a 3/4 minute walk away.
Cant reccommend highly enough!!
Thankyou for the experience!!

Room Tip: OK, if you go to Venice you may want a canal view room and pay more for it, but it can get very busy...

This was a beautiful hotel in Venice with friendly staff. The rooms were clean, well kept and offered plenty of space. We stayed in a basic room and the bed consisted of two twin beds put together, which was not always the most comfortable, but otherwise the room was great. The breakfast offered many choices including eggs, fresh fruit, pastries, cereal, yogurt, etc. and it was all in a lovely room overlooking the Grand Canal. I would recommend this hotel.

We LOVED this hotel! An amazing location right on the Grand Canal, super easy walking distance to the Rialto Bridge and further on to San Marco square, but removed enough to be quiet and away from the hustle and bustle! Very easy to get to from the airport - take the Alilaguna directly from airport to the San Stae (pronounced San STYE) stop. From there, check out the map on the black trash can in the corner to the left of the square. It leads you directly to the hotel for the price of 16Euro's per person.

The daytime clerks at the reception desk were extremely friendly and helpful - the nighttime gentelman took a bit of warming up, but even he was ok in the end. We arrived before check in and they had a storage room for our luggage. They told us the room would be ready after 1pm and when we arrived back to the hotel at 1:30pm, our room was indeed ready. They did not "offer" to carry our bags to our room - they simply picked up our bags and off they went with them! Wonderful service! They give you a small map when you check in with directions on how to get to the Rialto bridge from the hotel. From this area, there are signs located on buildings that point you the way to San Marco square. My children loved the candy dish located on the desk - and as much as my children tried to empty the dish, there always seemed to be candy there for the taking! The breakfast was great - definitely something for everyone - was actually quite surprised (in a good way!) by the selection. As mentioned my others, the actual dining room is a bit "cozy," but we met some nice people while eating breakfast! Our room was on the 3rd floor overlooking the side canal. It was very roomy for a family of four and the bathroom was very nice - love the heated towel racks. The maids did a wonderful job of tending to the rooms - every day we returned and our bathroom was spotless and beds were made with stuffed animals gentley laid to rest on the pillows! They even folded my husbands boxer shorts and placed them on top of his suitcase!

One day, the front desk clerk called for a complimentary water taxi to take us over to the Island of Murano to visit a glass blowing factory. It is really cool to stand on the front dock of the hotel and have a boat come and pick you up! We were a little concerned we would be hassled to purchase items after the demonstration, but we were not at all. I would HIGHLY recommend you take advantage of this service the hotels offer. The water taxi ride was one of my childrens highlights - and the glass blowing was really neat too!!! After the visit, you catch the Vaparatto back to San Marco for 7Euro a person. It is a great way to spend the morning.

Our family would stay here again in a heartbeat! We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Venice. We can't wait to take our younger daughter (who did not go with us on this trip!) back - she will love the hotel for the Chandeliers alone - they are amazing!!!
