We stayed here for week. The hotel is very clean and the staff is really friendly and helpful. You cannot iron in room but they will set it up in laundry area everyday. Breakfast is good and convenient. The closest restaurant is delicious. And the water taxi to airport is only a ten minute and 3 bridge walk away. Our room was very small but bathroom was big. And again, the staff was very nice and very welcoming. We would stay here again.....

Venice was the final stop on our four city Europe trip. As it is quite an expensive city we booked blindly with Hotwire, hoping we would score something decent for a fair price.

This hotel is located in the Santa Croce area and while it is not super close to anything, it is fairly centrally located on the Grand Canal and attractions like Rialto Bridge (10min) and San Marco Square (15min) are walkable. There are also several decent (non-tourist trap) restaurants nearby. As the city is jam-packed with tourists, it was nice to be a bit off of the beaten path.

The hotel was created out of an old mansion, thus it forgoes modern style for an old school typical Venetian motif. There is no elevator so if you are not on the ground floor, be prepared to do some walking up some fairly steep steps. Rooms are dated but clean. They vary in size I believe, but ours was quite large and featured a very nice patio overlooking a small canal with a partial view of the grand canal. Washrooms have all modern amenities and maid service was always prompt and thorough.

Breakfast was included, and was quite good. Wi-fi was an extra 8 euro for 6 hours, which was a bit of a drag (who charges for hotel Wi-Fi these days?), but is made worse by the fact that you’re on a timer and have to enter in credentials to log-on then go to a website to log off each time. They have a pamphlet in the room advertising “Sky” channels, but we were told they were not available right now (bad timing with Olympics happening). We had (mostly) positive experiences with the staff.

Venice is an expensive place and if you are able to book this hotel at the discounted rate I would recommend it, however it does have a few flaws it would need to improve on before I could recommend it at full price.

Room Tip: If you have trouble with stairs note that this hotel has no elavator and the steps are quite steep.

The Ca'Favretto had spacious rooms and bathroom, and everything was very clean. This hotel is old, but that's Venice. I thought the décor was odd. There is a nice breakfast area overlooking the canal, and also a nice outdoor patio at the entrance of the hotel. There is no elevator in this hotel, and the stairs were steep, so climbing three flights of steep stairs with luggage is a challenge. Location was fantastic. This hotel is right on the canal, so a water taxi can drop you off and pick you up right at the hotel, which was ideal for an early flight out of Venice.

We stayed at the hotel four nights in the beginning of February. We are a family with two kids and we got a large spacious room with - not to forget - a view of the Grande Canal from our room. Some might find the hotel a bit worn out, but it did not bother us. The staff at the reception was very friendly and service-minded. To be an italian hotel the breakfast had a large selection of food. The location is good. It is a five minutes walk from the ferry stop San Stae (where the boat from/to the airport stops), and it is the same distance to walk to the Rialto Bridge. On the negative side I must mention that we had to pay for wi-fi, even if it was a small fee. I would definitely consider coming back.

Hotel San Cassiano Ca'Favretto has a beautiful location by the Canal Grande. The room was spacious, nicely decorated and the bed was very good! Breakfast also included scrambled eggs and bacon; not always something you get for breakfast in Italy. From the balcony just outside the breakfast room, you have a beautiful view of the Canal Grande.

I found the staff very friendly and helpful! When arriving Venice by plain, you take the Ailaguna Orange line to San Stae: Then you are only a five minute walk from the hotel.

4th time at this hotel, room 219 this time. From checking in to checking out the whole experience at this wonderful hotel is exemplary. Delightful friendly staff, top class facilities, beautiful decor, and a location and view that could not be more perfect. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone. Its splendour, relaxed atmosphere and traditional venetian feel make it a home from home. I would not stop in any other hotel in Venice.

Although the decor is dated, the hotel is well located on the Grand canal, 5 minute walk from Rialto and 20 mins from Piazzale Roma. The front desk staff were welcoming and spoke good English, the bed was firm and comfortable, the shower in the ensuite was good and breakfast had a reasonable range of hot and cold in a room overlooking the Grand Canal.
We didn't spend much time in the rooms and had no real need for the TV but if you did want to watch something, it appeared most of the Sky channels available were pay per view. Another small negative could be the very limited in house bar. If you travel with a lot of luggage, you should be aware that there are no lifts. Wifi is available if you want to pay for it.
