“Good Hotel choice in Venice.”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

I picked this hotel mostly because of it's location and the price but I was very happy. It is loacted near the Rialto bridge. It has a great deck over the grand canal. The rooms are small but efficient, I wasn't spending much time in the room.

I'm lying on a comfortable bed in a decent sized room having had a lovely breakfast this morning, writing this review. What a lovely place this is. Traditional and Venetian as they come this hotel is good value for money and 5 minutes walk for the rialto bridge. Those with mobility problems may want to get a water taxi there with luggage as getting there from the vaporetta stop (San Stae or Rialto Mercato) is challenging with all the little bridges to scale. The staff are friendly and informative. I like the hard working porter/bar man Ernestro.

Breakfast was lovely. Catering for three generations of family was easy.

The downstairs terrace is pretty, being on the Grand Canal. The location is quiet and the black out shutters a welcome closure to the world. Air con in the rooms is strong and they stay cool even when it is switched off.

Prosecco is 18 euros a bottle which is about restaurant price. The hotel was well signposted once you get close. There is a lovely courtyard at the front and the building is steeped in history. The second floor holds several paintings of the building and the light fittings are all made from murano glass. My mother in law stayed in room 35 which was lovely and big. The kids were in room 221 which was small but nicely done.

All in all I will definitely return here on my next Venice trip. A lovely find in a crazy city.

Great location, cool vibe being a 14th century building. Was easy to get around. Rooms were nice, friendly staff. Great views from front terrace, and from breakfast terrace. Was very close to Rialto Bridge which made getting around Venice very simple. Loved this hotel.

The outside is deceiving because once you are in the rooms are gorgeous, so beautiful, great antique furniture, really helpful staff and great location. good breakfast selection which you can eat out on the balcony.

Room Tip: Ask for Canal view, they are amazing!

This was a delightful spot. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful, the rooms were very comfortable and ours overlooked the Grand Canal, there were wonderful restaurants nearby which were suggested to us, and a delicious breakfast was provided in a pleasant room again overlooking the Grand a Canal. There was a large pink plastic penguin on the balcony which I neglected to ask about!
We were near enough to the fish market, numerous churches, and the Rialto Bridge to walk. Everything else was easily reached in a Vaperatto or water taxi!
Both when we arrived and when we checked out four days later, they were happy to store our luggage until needed. This was just one of the many thoughtful touches.

We are just back from our stay in Room 219, stunning room on the 2nd floor to the left of the breakfast room balcony if looking at hotel from the canal. Two large windows (we thought there would only be one and got a lovely surprise). Deep window sil you can perch on to take in The view and what a view it is!! Listening to the church bells in the distance is a perfect way to start your day. Rooms are cool all day and it was very warm at the begining of July. Antique furniture in beautiful suite with sitting area and large comfortable bed plus an additional day bed. Lots of deep red walls, murano glass light fittings and gold guilt give a traditional venetian feel. Staff are lovely. Very helpful and make you feel special. The porter, come breakfast waiter, come barman was wonderful and the staff behind the desk are utterly charming. Maids also do a great job.. Only very slight negative is bathroom could do with an upgrade as it is a little past it's best, this is the only negative though. We upgraded to canal view room by phoning a couple of wks before travelling at an additional cost of 40 euros on top per night. It was well worth the extra cost!! Just far enough away from the busy Rialto bridge although just a five min walk. Lots of lovely places to eat tucked away in the alleys behind the hotel. Do yourself a favour and get a little lost there. I have dreamt of going to Venice for many years and this hotel did not dissapoint. Would go back in a heart beat. We stayed here for 2 nights. We loved the location. While we were in Venice there were 4 cruise ships there too. I loved the location of the hotel because it was far away from all the noise and confusion from the cruise ships.

The hotel has a great sitting area in the front on water and a garden seating area in the back.

They accommodated our family of 4 with one room. King bed and 2 twins so it was perfect. It's a very old "palace/mansion" so it has a lot of charm. Lots of stairs to get to our room though. We didn't mind it. However, if you have issues with that make sure you inquire about that.
