“NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL”
Reviewed 12 August 2014 via mobile

This hotel was a major disappointment after staying at another hotel in Venice the week prior that was a real 4 star. I would rate this as a 2 star and this one was more expensive. They didn't even have proper wine glasses when we ordered wine at the bar. The hotel is extremely difficult to get to if walking to. The staff were Unfriendly and lazy. The front desk staff did not care and seemed disinterested in their guests. Ash trays overflowed with cigarette butts and trash and were not emptied unless the one friendly gentleman who was the porter/ bartender was at work who seemed to be the only one who actually cared about his job. I asked the night staff about the ash trays and he simply said it was not his job to empty them and that it was Ernesto's. Not the kind of service to be expected from a 4 star. There is also no elevator. Save your money and stay at another hotel.

Dear Guest,
we are sorry to read such a negative review but we need to clarify a couple of things:
-All our wine glasses are provided by the wine producers.
All our staff, especially at the front desk, is always available 24/7 for all requests, questions, suggestions, remarks, directions and so on...
It's the really the first time we've got remarks and complaints about ashtrays...to us it's a little polemical and it's clear that it's an occasion just to say bad things about us.

Best Regards

This hotel was everything we had hoped for and more. We upgraded our room for a room with a view onto the Grande Canale and was not disappointed. Typically venetian - beautifully decorated with fabulous lumps of antique furniture, paintings, and murano glass chandeliers that shimmered in the morning sunlight. With two juliet balconies onto the grande canale, we could have sat there all day just taking in the scene. The San Stae vaparreto stop is a couple of minutes away and probably just as close is the Rialto. The hotel is in a great position to move around Venice, yet in a sufficiently quiet location to have a peaceful break. There are some great restaurants and bars within walking distance and we thought the local meals and drinks were very reasonably priced. I have seen a few disparaging reviews regarding the staff and all I can say is that we found all of them absolutely fantastic! The reception staff were courteous and could not do enough to help. This was from my pre arrival emails to my post departure "I've left my jacket can you post it to me please" email!! Similarly the ladies in the breakfast room were more than happy to move tables to accommodate larger groups and as far as I saw, everything was done with a smile.
I would definitely recommend this hotel if you want an authentic Venice experience. If you want 24/7 WiFi and 25 satellite channels, I would recommend a Best Western.

Room Tip: If you can pay a bit extra and upgrade to a room with a view over the Grande Canale.

After reading reviews on this site, I had higher expectations for this hotel. The front desk staff could hardly be bothered to look up from the computer to greet us, let alone help us. They have the most minimum information and gave the perception that they did not want to be bothered. The first night we had the shock of finding a wad of black hairs on the sheets. By the time we went to bed around 1:00 am it was too late to notify anybody, so we removed it. In the morning, we discovered a half-eaten apple under one of the beds. I notified the man at the front desk and he just said he would notify housekeeping. No apology or regret expressed! The rooms are very dark, which is probably why they are not clean. WiFi is only available for a specific number of hours, which accumulate, so you have to log out of it all the time to avoid using up the allotted hours. We were told this was to combat child pornography, which does not make any sense. I had the creeps staying here and do not recommend this place. There is simply no excuse for uncleanliness.

Dear Guest.
thanks for your review, always appreciated.
We are sorry that you felt that the front desk staff were not willing to help or assist you but we usually, as you can see form other reviews, have completely different feedbacks form other people telling good things about them.
About the cleanliness in general, we're always very attentive about it,it's always a must for us and it seems that also many other guests appreciate the quality of it.
In any case, we're always here if there's a problem and we're always ready to find a solution.
Wifi is not included in the price but we give it for free for all our guests.
Our wifi network is not open and it needs a username and password(one per person or device) because that's what the italian laws about Internet use say.
The only thing we cannot give the code for the Wifi to the children but only to the parents.

We always accept criticisms but if you would have told about your dissatisfaction here on spot, we would have found the necessary solutions and clarify any misunderstanding.

Best Regards

Booked online and the price came in quite cheap at 274 euros for 2 nights for a family of 3. Situated about midway between Rialto and the station, it is relatively easy to find on foot and is well signposted from the main routes. Typically venetian decor and much less run down than some hotels in the area. Quiet courtyard out front and a waterfront veranda overlooking the grand canal out back. Small dining area upstairs but good choice for breakfast with a limited outdoor dining area if you can stand being pestered by the feral pigeons. The rooms had sky and we're clean and comfortable. Unfortunately the hotel was let down by the incredibly poor manners and professionalism of the night staff. They were rude and uncooperative when asked to provide access to the bar at a very reasonable 10.30pm. Customer service loses them one mark, otherwise I would have given a four.

We were really not quite sure what to expect when booking this hotel. It was so convenient to arrive via the train and then hop on a water taxi to get to the hotel. The staff at check-in was very efficient. We were very surprised at the size of our room (larger than we had expected) and the bathroom was well appointed, including a bathtub as well. We stayed in Room #211. The breakfast room was bright and full of light, and we were lucky enough to sit on the balcony overlooking the Grand Canal enjoying our morning coffee. The staff gave great recommendations for lunch and dinner as well as some specific shopping needs. My only advice would be to really pay attention when leaving the hotel the first time as this will make it much easier when you return later.

Picked this because of the good reviews and was not disappointed. Lovely hotel, room we got (for myself, hubby and 15 yr old daughter) was huge, after telling them not to expect anything too big. It was old splendour, with a large chandelier in the middle of the room and a decent size ensuite. Everything clean and tidy. Front desk staff on the whole very good, there was a bit of a grump one evening but no big deal. The one thing I will list is how to get there, we tried following the other reports on here but not detailed enough i now know. If you have the money then a private taxi straight from the airport to the hotel, they have their own landing, 15 mins door to door but 120 Euros. If not then the Vaparetto from the airport to San Marco, get off and walk to the public water bus piers and get one to the San Stae stop, 2 min walk to the hotel but still going through various alleys etc so need to keep an eye out for signs or get the hotel to email you directions from there. Breakfast was good, enough choice and pleaseant staff. We had a lovely time and would recommend this hotel.

This hotel is unique and so central for exploring Venice. It is clean and beds are comfortable . Drinks on the balcony by the grand canal are really good. It is also excellent value for money. We would definately return. The staff are knowledgable and will advise on restaurants of which there are several nearby and on transport when needed
