Stayed here last year, beautiful room overlooking canal and church. Great location, lobby is huge for Venice. We enjoyed drinks on the little cafe outside several times! It was expensive but we used points.

What an oasis in the heart of Venice! its entrance is non-descript and quite romantic navigating the stone hallways to the courtyard where the entrance is. Lobby is stunning and made up of two hotels which is kind of easy to get lost in (in a good way.)

We were upgraded to a canal view suite as an SPG platinum. Great customer service. Rooms was stunning. Couldn't have asked for better.

Tip: If you arrive a water taxi, have them bring you to the Westin's private entrance straight from the canal. You'll be blown away!

Location is good, rooms are clean and comfortable. Loved the architecture. Front desk staff wasn't so helpful or prestative.

Wow. Just returned from a weekend with my wife and was overwhelmed by the view from our room. Pay the extra and get a Grand Cannal view - it is worth the extra and you will not be disappointed :)

The food in the restaurant was lovely (my wife loved the pork medallions) and the view at night from the restaurant on the grand canal made the evening complete.

The service was flawless, the breakfast although buffet style was delicious and on the grand canal (and included free prosecco).

The location is ideal - a very short walk to the centre, but just tucked away from the crowds.

I was very very impressed and had a magical stay, due in large part to the hotel.

I can assure you that you will not be disappointed.

We just returned home from our trip to Venice, and I just had to write about this hotel. When we arrived, there was a line to check in, but it didn't take long at all. The gentleman who helped us was very polite - asked how our trip to Venice was. Then, when he handed us our key cards, he said, "I think you'll enjoy your room." I thanked him, and thought, yeah right, I'm sure they say that to every guest. We went up the elevator (it works now) to the top floor, went to our room, opened the door, and saw the Grand Canal! (Room 635) It was amazing. Then, twenty minutes later, someone knocked on our door. It was a waiter with a chocolate cake and a card from the Westin congratulating us on our 15 year wedding anniversary! Just charming.

The location is perfect - right near St. Mark's. When we got tired of crowds and heat, we just walked back to our hotel and rested up in the air conditioning (which also worked), then headed back out when all the day-trip tourists were gone. As to complaints about how old and worn the hotel is, yes it's old. It's in Venice, which is old, people. That's part of the charm. Also, the city of Venice makes it very difficult to do updates on buildings, so I think the Westin has done a wonderful job with what they have. Our bathroom had been updated, and the bed was Heavenly.

We didn't eat at the hotel, so I can't comment on that. But the views from the restaurants are excellent.

Great hotel!

From the arrival by water taxi, younknow you'll have a very special experience. Long hall in marble to join the reception, attentioned service, warm atmosphere. Yes, it is a great hotel you just walked in.
As platinum memeber, it was worth waiting two hiurs fornhe room to be ready as it was a nice upgrade as (almost) usual. Check in time is at 15:00.
It left time tonenjoy lunch at the bar, from its terrace facing the grand canal. Superb ceasar salad and Bellini.
Room was great. Heavenly bed is a standardvatbWestin. Bathroom was nice, but not not overly exiting. A little bite cold by its color and furniture.
Superb location, 3 mn walk from la Fenice and place San Marco.
An excellent stay that I recommand.
This Starwood hotel is located just between two myths: the Danieli and Grtti palace. I stayed in the past once at Danieli. With room priced doubled to the Westin, better to stay at Westin. You won't notice too much difference, except the decoration of the main building.
Gritti is under full renovation. I look forward to experiencing it when it reopens.

The Westin is in a great location but is really run down. We went as part of a Tauck Tour and the whole group thought it was not up to standard. Wallpaper stained, rugs worn and dirty, and slightly smelly rooms. The A/C was not working in all rooms, and it was a heatwave. The elevator was broken when we arrived and they had no hope of repairing it that day. The Staff clearly did not wish to talk about this, either. Some guests were on the 4th and 5th floors, and they did not even give us water in the rooms. The Maitre D' was charming and helpful but not the reception/concierge staff. The Concierge tried to fob us off on a restaurant where he was probably getting kickbacks (we were forewarned by another review). The food at our private lunch and farewell dinner was excellent but breakfast was disgusting. Coffee horrid and everything left in the hot humid air going bad. I opened a cream cheese pack it was rancid. And don't even try to eat eggs. We were in the older wing. Again though, great location.

Room Tip: Only stay in the newer section if you must.
