Great hotel but really hard to find. If you go to Venice be sure to ask how you get to your hotel. It is very hard to maneuver luggage over bridges and steps and there are a lot of bridges. If I didn't ask for help we would of never found it. You have to look on the ground to find the word Regina. You have to go down 2 alley ways to find it.

The staff was very helpful and our room was very large with a view of the canal.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to post your review. We naturally are delighted to hear that you have enjoyed the room and that our staff met your expectations.
As far as our location is concerned, our dreamy Grand Canal location does place us off the main street and the most convenient way to find us is to arrive via water. Of course arriving to our street entrance may be a little difficult the first time you visit however our 24-hour Clef d'Or Concierge service is at guests disposal to provide personalized solutions for each guest. We look forward to welcoming you again in a very next future
With best regard

We chose Venice to end our Italian holiday as we wanted to end on a high note. We have been to Venice more than 8 times over the past few years and know the city very well. We are well aware of accommodation prices in Venice. We therefore realised that a room with a Grand Canal view with private balcony would not come cheap. We also booked a normal room for our children which was more than adequate.

Check-in proceded without fault and met our expectations.

Our room was lovely and newly decorated. We had a full view of the Grand Canal. It was a bit sterile in atmosphere but we look look past it all as we had the view to compensate after all.

We soon realised that service levels were lacking, especially for a Westin brand hotel. We requested a hotel directory which after six attemps was provided the night before we checked out. As the duty manager agreed with me on the second day, this was not up to standard for a five star hotel. Needless to say that the directory still did not materialise that day.

There were various other small niggling problems but as we did not want to "sour" our holiday, we just let them slide.

Upon departure only did we find out that we could have used a pool at a partner hotel on the Lido with complementary transfers by private boat.

Another problem was that we were not accompanied to our rooms upon arrival. Five Star hotels in Westin in particular (wherever we have stayed before) have made it a specific point to accompany us to the rooms and show us all features and facilities.

On the second day our room had not been serviced by the time we returned at 14h00. Upon complaint, I was told that I should have informed the housekeeper that I was leaving the room and they could service it. I have never come across this in my life!!! The manager on duty agreed with with and offered me a drink on the veranda while this was rectified. This was a good touch. Some minor issues that I pointed out to him in our childrens' room was fixed as well.

In summary:

- This is a beautiful hotel located in a superb position. It has wonderful furnishings (even though the orchids in reception were all dead and wilted) and ambiance - so good score here

- The services seem to be totally disjointed with certain departments clearly functioning to 5 star standards whilst others were, frankly speaking, pitiful - very poor score here.

Advice to all that select this hotel: Ensure that you get the service level standards that you are paying for!!

This place is beautiful. The rooms were comfortable fresh and fit perfectly into venice. Wish we would have stayed here our full stay in venice, next time we will. The view from our room was heavenly. The staff is very freindly and the service is great. Would reccomend this hotel to anyone that wants an upscale place.

Room Tip: Ask for a water view, but both rooms we stayed in were really nice.

The Westin Europa & Regina Hotel in Venice is very beautiful, located in the perfect spot on the Canal Grande, with a waterfront bar and restaurant that takes your breath away. So why my mixed feeling? Because of my room.
To start, it was very small, I could pratically stretch my arms out and touch both walls. I struggled to find a place for my luggage. The room faced the interior square but because the window was blocked by scaffolding and debris netting there was not even possibility to open window. And of course morning wake up was from the workers outside.

I've stayed at the Westin in St Martin, Westin Valencia and other SPG properties. All their rooms were very spacious and luxurious. I had high expectations for this Westin but was very disappointed. When making the reservation ask where your room will be.

Breakfast was good, especially since you are sitting ouside with a spectacular view but very expensive.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant suggestions were very good.

Our 5 night stay was a pleasure from beginning to end. Located directly on the Grand Canal, we realized as we were arriving by water taxi that the Europa & Regina is truly a special place. The public areas are beautiful, with an excellent view of the Grand Canal and Santa Maria della Salute from the terrace of the Bar Tiepolo. While our standard room had no special view, the room and bath were spacious, newly renovated and elegantly appointed. Service was friendly and professional. Located close to San Marco, yet the hotel is on a quiet street, removed from the bustle. The complimentary shuttle to the Lido is a nice touch.

I stayed 2 nights with my mother and sister to celebrate my mother's birthday. Everything was nothing but perfect. A birthday cake (very good) was kindly offered to my mother upon arrival. These small attentions really make a difference.

The hotel location is the best possible, just a few steps away from San Marco, the view from the Grand Canal room was absolutely stunning, the Regina palace is superb with marble and Murano everywhere.

Great venitian food experience in La Cusina, overlooking the canal and superb breakfasts.

What I will highly value is the kindness of the staff, from the very beginning (pick up at the airport and back) to the hotel staff - so kind and friendly to us - and the concierge service, very helpful and professional.

I wanted to offer my mother an unforgettable stay in Venice to celebrate her birthday and the Westin Europa & Regina really helped making this a reality!

Room Tip: Definitely select room overlooking Grand Canal - A real must to make the most of your stay

I was hestitating to give this hotel five stars because there were one or two minor areas that I think they could improve upon but the overall experience was so good that they paled into insignificance quickly.

The hotel's dock is right on the Grand Canal and water taxi is a great way to arrive. We pre-booked a water taxi from our cruise ship to the hotel - 70 euro.

We arrived before 09:00am and understandably our room was not ready. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful, took all of our details and registered them ready for when we came back later to check-in. Porters stored our bags and we left free to spend the day in Venice. It was raining and the hotel provided free umbrellas. We came back before mid-day with our shopping bags and the concierge happily took them off our hands, issued a receipt and left us to go back out in search of lunch.

We checked in about 3:00pm although I think we could have got in earlier if we had come back. Since we had pre-registered it took about 10 seconds to check-in. We paid $712 for a deluxe room with breakfast for 3 pax, The room was really quite large with a king bed and a sofa fold-down for our son but still plenty of room to move around and a seperate dressing area to store luggage and hang clothes. Bathroom was nicely laid out with double sinks, magnifying mirror, hairdrier, the usual amenities and plenty of towels and robes. All in all very comfortable and spoiled only by the view of the scaffold-covered building next door. You can guarantee a canal view by paying extra but we were not bothered having just spent two weeks at sea. Public areas (corridors, elevators) were a bit scruffy as was the littered courtyard on the land side of the hotel. Nothing to worry about but less than one would expect from this brand.

Breakfast on the terrace on the Grand Canal was quite nice, especially with the prosecco offered but beyond that, nothing special compared to other hotels I have stayed in. No omelette station appeared to be in operation which was unusual. Staff were pleasant enough but seemed rushed off their feet however the location more than makes up for these minor problems and overall it was a most satisfying stay.

Checkout was quick although the unannounced municipal tourist tax was a bit annoying. Porters again very helpful and held on to our luggage while we spent our last hour taking a gondola ride (100 euro) from a side-canal close by until the water taxi came to take us to the airport (110 euro).

I would recommend this hotel and gladly go back.

Room Tip: Simple really, rooms at the front have a great view, the rest don't.
