My first visit to this city was met with warm and gracious Italian hospitality. Weary and tired from a long overnight flight I asked the concierge desk for a personal guide to this magnificent city, without hesitation he said be here at 3p.m.....it was the best city tour I have ever has the pleasure to experience!! Oh and the location is without a doubt the best. I thank the folks from food and beverage to the housekeepers, front desk, and concierge. As we say in the south," you rock "..many, many thanks for a blissfully refreshing vacation.

If it were not for its location, and it being part of Starwood, I would not even think about staying here. Our room, 442 was in a blind spot for the wifi so we had to stand in the hallway if we wanted to get our emails. This hotel is just not up to the standard of other Westin hotels.

Lovely hotel in a very good location, close to San Marco. It was fairly easy to find once you get off at San Marco-Vallaresso stop. From the restaurant, you have a beautiful view of the Grand Canal. Have a sit outside and watch as the gondolas pass you by, while directly in front of you is the Santa Maria della Salute.

Pricey hotel, but it is expected. Everything in Venice is expensive. The check-in was smooth, but the front desk agent was not so warm. It looked like she had to force a smile...tsk tsk...hospitality remember???

Once arrived to my room, it was all that I expected. It was spacious and comfortable as it should be, after all it is a Westin/Starwood property.

I would stay again, regardless of the initial check-in experience.

Location: Perfect - could not be better, with a great view towards the Canale Grande, closeby Piazza San Marco and the best shopping area. Because we took the public water taxi and got out at Piazza San Marco (where the hotel is nearby), it was a bit hard to find the way to the hotel - with a private transfer, you arrive directy in front of the hotel and avoid this problem.
Check in and welcome: Check in went smooth and fast, but reception staff could be friendlier.
Room: Was on the 6th floor with a perfect view over Venice. Room seemed newly refurbished - nice Venetian design and decor. Mattress, pillows and linens are of high quality. Bathroom was spacious and well equipped. Water from the mini bar was quite expensive with 10 Euros.
Bar: Directly at the Canale Grande, the outside bar terrace is the perfect place to have an Aperol Spritz (for 18 Euros) and enjoy the sunset.
Check out: Went smooth and fast.
Resume: Would come here again and recommend it!

Room Tip: Room on a higher floor

We continuing had poor service from the Hotel staff. They were not accommodating at all. We did not feel acknowledged by the front desk, the concierge or restaurant staff. We ordered a pot of coffee from room service and they were very rude when we asked how many cups of coffee were in the pot, the woman said how am I supposed to know and hung up.

The hotel itself is very nice. It sits on the Grand Canal and has a wonderful view from the outside bar and restaurant. You pay two to three times more for you food and drinks because of the location. Walk a couple of blocks away from main tourist area and you will get better food at a lower price.

We have always had exceptional service at Westin properties so we were surprised by the complacent attitudes of this hotel.

Despite the directions from the hotel being slightly unclear (the road names did not correlate with the ones on the website), we were delighted when we walked from the busy, hot street into the cool and glamorous lobby of the Westin Europa and Regina.
We were greeted at reception by Alejandra F who was very distracted, spoke to someone else on the phone and was more interested in listening to another conversation than talk to us. We were not convinced about service at this point.
However, this was soon forgotten when we entered our room and saw the beautiful view of the Grand Canal - it could not have been better. The room, although small, was nice.
The real crowning glory for us was the terrace outside the hotel which sits on the Grand Canal, affording excellent views in the sunshine. I spent a part of each day sitting on this terrace reading because it was so relaxing and peaceful.
Service also improved after our initial encounter. Albert, the concierge, proved extremely helpful, waiters in the restaurant were friendly and another lady from reception even guided us to the correct vaporetto stop when we bumped into her on the water taxi.
Wifi was a problem and this seems to have been the case for other people staying there also. Firstly, I have been on holiday in Italy and Austria for the past 3 weeks and this is the only hotel which has charged for wifi - 12 Euros a day. I could have forgiven this If it had worked but it would cut out regularly and not reconnect. We had to make several phone calls to reception to resolve this issue which was frustrating. Restaurant prices were also extremely high - 2 cokes and the club sandwich with chips - 47Euros.
Despite the issues mentioned above, this hotel is ideally located, 2 minutes from St. Mark's square and yet in a very quiet courtyard, the views are excellent, the hotel itself very comfortable, the terrace glorious and the staff friendly. I would recommend this hotel and stay again if I am ever in Venice (which I hope to be - I fell in love with the city).

We had a good stay here. The hotel room was a good size. The hotel is conveniently located to a lot of top tourist sites in Venice.

You'll probably need to take a water taxi to get to the hotel, because it's too crazy carrying your luggage through the streets of Venice, especially where the hotel is located. The hotel is good arranging this for you, so you don't have to worry too much.

In my view, wifi should be free everywhere, but the hotel charges a crazy amount to do this. I think this is Westin Hotels in general, which is completely unreasonable in 2014 in my opinion. This is the one hiccup in the whole stay.
