“Nice summer break”
Reviewed 30 July 2010

We spent 5 nights in Venice during the middle of July, staying at the Splendid. On arrival, the hotel was very difficult to find, however I feel this would be the case for the majority of the hotels in Venice. Dont even bother trying to use a Map- it just doesnt work! After a while we eventually stumbled across the hotel. The hotel itself is in the perfect location, midway between st marks square and the Rialto bridge. The hotel is done up very nicely- looked very clean and well kept, and looks like it has been refurbed very recently. The rooms are much the same, and very comfortable, if somewhat on the small side.

On the down side, the sevice at breakfast was not always great- it was usual in the mornings that they would forget to ask if we wanted coffee/tea, and the would also forget to bring it out when we eventually did order. Also, they have a communal computer station, but have to pay for the use of the internet.

However, overall these are small gripes, and we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very good value for money, and I would recommend to others.

We stayed here for a weekend in June and we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was in a terrific location (walking distance to both Rialto bridge and St. Marks) , the rooms were well kept and clean and the staff was friendly enough. The breakfast was decent, and dinner in the hotel restaurant was very nice. Given the price of the room for the night we thought this hotel was a great deal! Also, a nice touch were the umbrellas the hotel provided for guest use (since we had rain our entire weekend there). We would stay here again if going back to Venice.

Starhotel Venice is a great hotel just a minute away from the Piazza san Marco. We stayed in this hotel for three nights and it was the perfect vantage point from where to experience Venice. It's an oasis in the middle of the hectic streets of Venice. Room 511 has a view to die for and a terrace to go with it. We got this as a complementary upgrade. Sweet!!!

The first and most important asset of the hotel is the location. It is midway between Rialto bridge and Piazza San Marco, thus giving the opportunity to hit the main tourist attractions on foot. The room was nice, it had the kind of decor you expect from a hotel in Venice (meaning it's not very modern, or minimal), and although this wasn't to my true liking, it was very clean, had a nice view over a quiet canal and had nothing to complain about. Breakfast was served in a very nice dining room, and all the public areas of the hotel are very tastefully decorated.
Don't hesitate to book it, you won't be disappointed!

Location is wonderful. A bit of a pain to get to, but once we were here it was a great central location. There many shops and restaurants in the area. My teenage daughters enjoyed being able to explore the shops on their own. We often found ourselves in the vincinity of the hotel during our explorations, so it was nice to be able to use the bathroom, drop off packages ,change shoes or just relax for a half hour, before heading back out.
The rooms were very clean and quiet. Our room was right out side the elevator on the third floor. We never heard anyone in the halls, nor did we hear any noise from outside. The beds were extremely comfortable.

The hotel staff were wonderful, especially Alex at the front desk. He arranged a water taxi for us to go to Murano at no charge, as well as one to take us to the cruise terminal. The latter was a godsend (it met us right at the hotel), since we had 4 adults (one senior) , 2 teens and a child plus luggage. Negotiating the streets to catch the water bus would have been horrible, and the extra cost ( about 20 euro ) was negligible. Sooo worth the money.

The breakfast were not anything special, but it was enough to start the day. Tere were cereals, baked goods, juices, fruits, meats and yogur. there were eggs, but they looked odd, and we never tasted them.

Great hotel. Price was much better than many other hotels I looked at in Venice.

The hotel is in a great location 5 mins either way to the Rialto Bridge or St Mark's square. The hotel rooms were clean and air-conditioned, a must if you're going in July ! Its also on the gondola path if you start at the Rialto Bridge. Not the biggest rooms but thats nothing new in Europe. All in all, in its price bracket a good hotel to stay in.
