Prior to arriving at the hotel, the staff hgave me alot of advise regarding transfers from the station to the hotel. We were given room 501 which is the only room with a roof terrace.

Very centrally located and easy to get to the vaperetto stops and Marco Square.

The breakfast room although small was well managed by the two serving staff.

The barman was very helpful and brought our drinks to our room.

A very enjoyable stay.

The Reception staff are very helpful but a little stiff and aloof.

Room Tip: Try hard for room 501 the only room with a Roof Terrace.

The hotel wasn't the easiest to find but it was in a good location. The staff were efficient and the lobby had a nice reception room off it ( where people were using the free wifi). The dining room looked quite small, so we were pleasantly surprised when we went for breakfast the next morning to see it was a good size. The breakfast was more than adequate. The room is what you would expect of a Venetian hotel- old worldly charm.
Tip: we spent a night here after returning from a cruise. From the train station (Ferrovia), we took water bus No 1 and got off at San Marco Valparaso ( which took about 45 minutes and 14 stops). The hotel was only a short walk from there.

Firstly, ignore all the reviewers who score the hotel badly on room size - it's Venice! Space is at a premium and we were very pleasantly surprised with how spacious our rooms were, especially if you compare them to equivalent in Paris, Rome or London.

The decor was traditional, which suited the building. We had rooms overlooking the street but it wasn't noisy (no traffic!) and the external shutters kept the room cool. The aircon was an added bonus but we didn't need it.

Breakfast was the usual continental style. Lovely fresh warm bread, perfect croissants, and no shortage of anything. Coffee to wake you up marvellously!

Location was super in the middle of San Marco and minutes from Basilica San Marco - great value for brilliant location. Would we stay here again? Absolutely.

Hotel Kette is a nice hotel in a good location. We were upgraded to a large room because it was our honeymoon that overlooked a small canal. There were 2 columns in the room which made it feel very Venetian. Close to St. Mark's square, high-end shopping, and many gondola stands.
When we asked about transportation routes to the Murano Island, we were told that the hotel has a complimentary taxi to the island. We got off and were greeted by "tour guides". We watched the factory's glass blower (he made just small things for people to watch, nothing too elaborate but it was cool anyway). The "tour guide" didn't do much explaining because perhaps because he didn't speak English. We were then followed by the "tour guide" into a multi-room showroom of pieces that were unbelievably expensive. Seems like this factory picks up tourists in their hotels and gets them into their showrooms. Either way, it was a free taxi to Murano Island and we walked around afterwards and did what we wanted.
Also, when I asked for a second cappuccino at the complimentary breakfast, I was told there was a charge for more than 1. It was not a big deal, but the cappuccino did come out of a machine so not sure why it would cost for a second one.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The hotel was sub par. The breakfast buffet was sub par. food choices for this much below the other hotels I visited while in Italy. The juice was frozen the fruits canned , the breads that they offered stale. The coffee was syrup like.
Now lets move to the room. Our travel agent had us upgrade to this hotel. It was an extra 50Euro a night. The room has a ceiling that was stained with water spots, it seemed as the ceiling would fall at any moment. The toilet would not flush. No wash cloths. Just a mess. The room number was 321. The hotel decor was out dated. Dusty and musty. I was VERY disappointed. It is down an alley with no street address on the hotel. It is not easy to find.

Room Tip: The hotel wi-fi is very slow as with most of Italy's hotels. Use trip advisor to help choose a...

We stayed at the Kette the night before we left on our cruise. The hotel is about a five minute walk from St. Marks Square. The rooms were of good size and nice and clean. We enjoyed a continental breakfast the next morning before heading to our ship. We exited through the water door when our taxi came to get us. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Visited on 25th anniversary trip, hotel gave us free upgrade. Beautiful view of canal, gondolas going by just under window, music & song from gondolas very romantic. Friendly staff, excellent breakfast, rooms serviced to perfection every day. Short stroll to St Mark's Square. Only regret was that we didn't stay longer!
