This hotel is perfectly located - it is on the quiet, neighborhood area of Dorsoduro which is across the Grand Canal from the tourist sections, yet is a two minute walk to the Accademia Bridge and Museum, and to the Peggy Guggenheim Museum. It is about a ten minute walk to St. Mark's Square and the Doges Palace, through interesting alley ways and piazzas and across several delightful footbridges. Our room had a private balcony overlooking the canal, and it too romantic for words. The staff is attentive and helpful, breakfast was good (especially the croissants), the rooms were clean and the air conditioning worked well. My husband arranged with the hotel to have fresh flowers in the room when we arrived - a perfect touch of Venetian romance. There are several very good ristorantes within a two minute walk, as well as gelaterias and neighborhood churches. I am eager to return!

We don't have that much to add to other reviews, (we liked this place- friendly/helpful staff, great location, etc.), other than to say, with the name American Dinesan, and all the positive reviews here, the hotel attracts a clientele that is, well, mostly American. Which can be a positive, or a negative, depending upon how you look at it. The lack of a lift/elevator was a bit of a disadvantage; the provision of free WiFi was a distinct advantage (not a given in Italy). We should also point out that, out of all the hotels we stayed at in Italy (Rome, Venice, Cinque Terre, Menaggio, Milan), this was the most expensive. Overall, we'd recommend American Dinesan, especially for first-timers, but we'd also want to explore a few other options on a return trip.

This hotel is one of the best kept secrets of Venice. It's a small, beautiful hotel. I was traveling with family. The location is excellent, very close to the point Academia Bridge. The staff was excellent, friendly, and accommodating. It's 15 minutes walk St. Mark's Square and most other locations in Venice. From the moment we arrived the hotel felt homey and comfortable. It was very clean and had excellent staff. The rooms had a Victorian coziness to them and our room overlooked the canal where the Gondola's would pass daily. Every morning there was a wonderful buffet. What else can I say, it was better than a lot of 4 star hotels I'd seen. The atmosphere was one of comfort and friendliness. We'll be going back.

This hotel is a real gem and I was tempted to keep it a family secret. However, I decided to share our experience. The location is perfect; a stone's throw from the Ponte Accademia across the Grand Canal and the waterbus stop. It is away from the bustle of the centre but within easy reach of everything. We walked to St Mark's Square and to Rialto; approx 12-15 minutes each.
The accomodation was superb. We had a family room for four. It comprised 2 x 3 foot beds together and in a separate area 2 more single beds for the children. It is traditionally decorated in Venetian palazzo style and was very clean and comfortable. Continental breakfast was great and the hotel staff all speak good English.
We will definitely be going back there

This hotel has a great location which allows one to be close to the tourist areas, as well as feel that one is off the beaten track a little. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful, and the breakfast, while simple, does the trick. There are plenty of restaurants close by, and the Accademia Bridge is right there, so it's a short hop over to the 'main' part of Venice.

Best hotel of a 2-week European vacation. Travelled with 2 18-year-olds and a 21-year-old, and this was our favorite hotel. Splurge on the canal view -- after a day of walking Venice it was wonderful to come back to sit on the balcony and enjoy the canal and the street below. The hotel was immaculate and the staff was knowledgeable and courteous. Quiet location but convenient to the busier Rialto (which the kids liked) and San Marco. Lovely walks down alleyways to the Peggy Gugenheim Museum and on the other side of the Accademia. The Zaterre is a fun stroll with a Billa grocery store to the right to save a bit on food. A good art store -- BAC -- right across the canal, as well as restaurants and wine shops.

This is a cozy, small hotel located off of the busy areas of Venice, but well within a short (10 minute at most) walking distance to just about everything.

The rooms are adequately large, which we stayed in with 4 people. We had a canal view, which I'd highly recommend, on the 3rd floor. It's a great place to watch the world go by, with the Grande Canal off in the distance.

Breakfast is included, with free Wi-Fi, and a really nice little garden terrace that we had breakfast on one morning. The staff were happy to oblige any request and were always ready with a smile.

A truly outstanding value and hotel for those not wanting to be in the bee hive of St. Mark's Square.
