Myself and my wife stayed here after finding a good deal on bookings.com. However, i became nervous after reading a few bad reviews. I must say though that i was pleasantly surprised. THe staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room itself was very old fashioned, and our view was terrible as it overlooked a roof and a blank wall! (319). The breakfast was easily one of the best breakfasts and range of available foods that i have seen anywhere in Europe. Overall, i would recommend it as its location is so central to everything, and i would return.

This hotel was a very good value. We were three couples travelling together for two weeks in Italy, and we were looking for a hotel in a reasonable range (something that's hard to find in Venice). So we were concerned that it might not be up to our standards. However, we found it to be the best choice we could possibly have made. The location is perfect; right on a major walking area, within about 15 minutes of Piazza San Marco. It has a dock right out in front as well as on the side; on the day we left, we asked the gentleman at the desk to arrange a water taxi for us, and it pulled up right next to the hotel and whisked us to the airport. The gentlemen at the front desk were invariably polite and helpful. The rooms were large, nicely appointed, comfortable and exceptionally clean and quiet. The breakfast, which is included, was very good and had lots of variety. And maybe best of all, there is a rooftop garden with tables and chairs, which we enjoyed every evening, watching the sun set across the lagoon.

I stayed at Hotel Gabrielli for three nights in March. It was my first visit to Venice and I found the hotel an ideal and convenient base from which to explore all the charms, wining & dining Venice has to offer. The hotel is not luxury, but it's nicely appointed, comfortable, charming and certainly in-keeping with it's surrounds. The bathroom amenities are nice. The breakfast restaurant is a pleasant start to the day with a reasonable buffet offering. I'd recommend this hotel for friends, family and colleagues visiting Venice.

This is a very well situated, comfortable hotel overlooking the lagoon, and about a 15 minute walk to San Marco. The vaporetto stops are almost right in front of the hotel.Though the furnishings are rather dated the bed was excellent, and the bathroom was in good working order. However in spite of the " free wifi" that they offer, we were lucky to be able to connect at all because the signal was very weak. So if that is important, then beware! Based on the one meal we had in the restaurant, we would not recommend you eat there, though the breakfast was very good.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the lagoon.

After a wedding party in Firenze we
Had 1 night in Venezia at Gabrielli.
Very good location, but that's all you get. After checkin we rested for few hours and the fire alarm went off and didn't stop for hours. We had to leave the hotel, it was evening and the sound was very annoying.
WIFI doesn't work at all asked at the reception how come we couldn't connect to Internet the answer was " something wrong with your room " and " how should I know!!!! ".
I'm used to travel and stay in hotels and Gabrielli was supposed
To be a treat.
Come morning breakfast Buffett was good asked for a cappuccino and arrived 20-30 minutes later, the mood if the waiter was not so good, no smile and no sorry for delay.
Bottom line this hotel is NOT a 4 star but a fair B&B over priced overall look is old and and dark

We travelled as a group of friends to Venice for 4 days. Hotel location was fantastic, beautiful roof-top terrace for enjoying sunsets in Venice with a spectacular view of the lagoon up to the Grand Canal. Bedrooms well appointed and beds comfortable. All staff in the hotel were very helpful and pleasant especially Beatrice on reception desk. Excellent buffet breakfast. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to all types of traveller.

Room Tip: our rooms were at the back/side of the hotel and looked over the rooftops of the district as they w...

OK the downside first. This is NOT a luxury palace like the Bauer or the Danieli. It may have been in that category when Kafka stayed there a century ago, but it's faded considerably since then. There are a few architectural details from the Venice Golden Age, but also some budget-driven compromises like the plywood panels in the salon where I am typing this review, or the garden out back that looks a little forlorn, at least now in mid March.

What the Gabrielli has is location, location, location, and if that aspect works for you then you may like it quite well. My room (528) is tiny -- former maid's quarters under the eaves -- but from the east facing window I can see the lagoon in one direction and the Arsenale neighborhood in the other. Quite pleasant to wake up to that! Furnshings are basic but hygiene is good. The buffet breakfast offers many choices, plus a morning view across the lagoon on San Giorgio, and the staff is polite.

This is the off season and my early-week room was deeply discounted, to under $100 per night. If you are at the right price point, then this hotel is a very good value.
