We arrived on the Venice water taxi dock near the hotel on a Monday afternoon in September, 2018. Our tour leader/owner accompanied us from the water taxi arrival dock to the Bisanzio Hotel because it is indeed a little difficult to find.

The hotel is down a narrow corridor (Calle de Pieta) that is located just a little to the left, or about 12 meters west of the water taxi dock. When you are at the entrance to the corridor Calle de Pieta, look down (toward your feet). There is a sign actually on the sidewalk that points to the direction of the hotel roughly 83 meters down the corridor.

We walked down the narrow corridor and saw the sign for the Bisanzio Hotel above a door. We approached the reception desk and were warmly greeted by the clerk behind the desk. Check in was efficient, pleasant and then we were escorted to our room. To get to our room we needed to actually exit the hotel’s front door and make a u-turn to go down another corridor to what looked like a courtyard with an old capped water well and then over to the door to our part of the hotel.

We took the elevator up to our room and got settled. The room was somewhat small but did have three windows, all affording a view into two different courtyards. There was a small couch with a side table and a desk with a flat-screen TV. The bathroom was fairly spacious and had a very large walk-in shower.

After we got settled and went down into the lobby we asked a few questions of the reception clerk about restaurants, etc. He provided the information we requested but he also said there would be a private round-trip boat ride to, and a tour of, one of the Murano glass manufacturers the next day. He said it would only cost 10 Euro each. Trusting the clerk at the hotel, we did indeed make a reservation and took a boat ride to the island the next day and visited the specific glass manufacturer “sponsored” by the hotel.

But here is what the hotel did not mention to us. When we were ready to return, we soon learned that the “private” boat ride back was “not available”. In fact, the sales guy from the glass company started to get really ambiguous about how and when we could get a boat ride back to the hotel and that we might have to pay. I applied a little verbal pressure plus a reminder about what we were told by the hotel and he finally agreed to get a “public” taxi for us. Then he told us the taxi would need to drop off another couple at another island and then take us to someplace “close” to our hotel.

I can’t say I was relieved or amused because I trusted what the clerk at the hotel had promised "...a private round-trip boat ride...". We did indeed get into a public taxi after about a fifteen minute wait and accompanied another couple to their island and then we were taken to the water taxi dock near the hotel. While the tour offered by the hotel was interesting, I would suggest that if you are interested, be sure to get some written guarantees from the hotel about what is provided. Else you might get a surprise when ready for your return boat trip.

Hotel Restaurant:
We visited the hotel restaurant two mornings for their continental breakfast. Each morning the dining area was already full of diners by the time we arrived at 07:45. Each morning we had to look around for a decent table and ended up either next to the busy serving tables or stuck at a table for four with some other diners.

But as soon as we sat down each morning the waitress came over to us and asked about our coffee. They were always pleasant and efficient and it really made up for the over-crowded room.

The food on the serving tables was diverse and abundant. The scrambled eggs were cooked properly and warm. Each morning we asked for a refill of our coffee carafe. The waitresses accommodated us without hesitation and with a smile. The quality of the continental breakfast food and the staff’s service met our expectations.

Overall: We really liked this hotel. It was within walking distance to most of the attractions in Venice, restaurants, shopping, etc.. The staff were all helpful, cheerful and seemed to genuinely care about our stay. Would we return? Yes, very likely.

We got off Vaporatto and was right there. No trouble. Getting off Venice was the problem Vaporatto was packed. Took a private taxi. Expensive and then had to pay someone 25 euros to move my luggage for a few feet. Expect to spend. Bisanzio Hotel is what you will expect in Venice. The staff was excellent. We were able to get around the major sites we wanted to San Marco and the Greek Quarter to see the Greek Orthodox Church and Greek Orthodox Patriarchate. Nice breakfast.

Room tip: This is Venice, where everyone wants to be. Don't expect facilities like the mainland.

Perfect hotel for family travel. They have another property near the main hotel. These are apartments with complete facilities( kitchen & washing machine). Plenty of sleeping space.
The hotel is a few minute walk to St Marks and not too far from the Rialto. The great staff helped us book trips to Murano & Burano( worth a trip). Have been to Venice many times and would stay here again.

Convenient location, friendly helpful staff, clean and spacious. Breakfast fairly ordinary, even a bit disappointing in selection and quality. Not enough wall sockets for charging three travelers modern life. But that is a pretty minor complaint.

Hotel Bisanzio is in a great location. Close to attractions but set back in a quiet alley. Our room was airy and light with a good bathroom. The breakfast buffet had a huge range of options with very attentive staff. The front desk staff were helpful and professional.
