close to main train station just 2 minutes walk. spacious room. Although no elevator but they provide u with a person to help in taking ur luggage to the room and bring it down. breakfast is good. offers to keep luggage even if checked out till u catch the train later in evening. Good value for money and will recommend to others.

wifi only in public areas i.e lobby and breakfast hall. no city maps info provided for the first timer in Venice.

Room Tip: rooms overlooking street

very clean hotel and very accommodating as we asked to look at the rooms first because we had just left the Hotel Canal which was disgraceful and we wanted to make sure before we booked in.
rooms were spacious and very clean. hotel lobby and surroundings were a bit outdated but clean and tidy. reception staff extremely friendly and helpful. breakfast was good for continental, just help yourself to as much as you want. location was fabulous and restaurants nearby were really good.

Room Tip: have a look at what they have available before deciding which room and floor

I stayed in the Universo & Nord on the 15th of May. There was no bath mat provided in the bathroom & I slipped as I stepped out of the shower. I sustained a gash about 2 inches long which was bleeding profusely. Unable to stop the bleeding I went to the front desk to ask for help. To my surprise the night clerk did not have a first aid box. I had to search the vicinity for a 24 hour pharmacy but the information I was given was erroneous. In the end, we had to improvise a temporary dressing out of cotton wool, paper napkins & scotch tape. I was unable to sleep but fortunately was able to buy proper supplies the next day to dress the wound. The front desk staff's reaction was one of indifference & there wasn't any expression of concern or of whether he could call a doctor. I really do not care how good a deal a hotel offers or the convenience of the location. If the reception is one of rudeness or indifference, then I will not stay there. I moved out after one night. Travellers be forewarned!!

The hotel is very well located next to the railway station (St. Lucia ) and a water bus stop/station and that's its strength. The hotel itself is /looked worn down , especially in the corridors. The room I had was very small with a similar bathroom but clean. There is no elevator and the corridors are a labyrinth . The breakfast buffet was ok.
The hotel receptionists was helpful in giving advises.
Just outside the hotel there is an endless stream of people passing the whole day but not much of this is heard inside and was not bothered by noise at night in the room on 3rd floor.
No English language Tv if you want to relax and have a look a the news after a long day of walking visiting museums and churches/basilicas amd the Wi-fi is only available in the "lobby."
There is a backpacker cafe/coffe shop next door with ok food at reasonable prices.
The whole area is full of ristorates ,trattorias and street stores selling all kinds of food and other goods and several attractions are within walking distance.
I bought a map and whole day , 36 hr tickets for the water bus and rode all over the place for a reasonable amount jumping on and off the ferries as covenient.

Im not expecting a lot from this hotel, since we just need a not too pricey place to stay overnight that's near the main train station.

Location. just a few steps away from the train station exit. the bonus here is the gelato shop just beside the hotel. the best we had in venice. you can easily walk with the crowd and explore venice in this area. we dined here because its more cheaper compared to the restos near attractions like st. mark's square. you'd find in this area very nice restaurants with a view of the canal.

Reception. our room is at the 3rd floor with long and winding stairs and big halls so reception offered us help for our luggage because there's no lift.

Our room. gloomy because of the color of the sheet and building is old (but its usual in venice). when it looks gloomy it looks dirty but its actually clean. bathroom is clean too. with heater.

Food. Breakfast is just fine. we are ok with it even if not too many variations.

Wifi. no wifi in the rooms but its clearly specified in their description. but signal very strong int he reception area with lots of sofas, chairs and tables where you can lounge and rest.

Price. ok for the location of the hotel.

Room Tip: request for 1st floor room because there is no lift.

The only good thing about this place is located near train station. Front desk staff was rude! Lobby area, hallways and most importantly the room was dirty. It was a last minute booking, most other hotels were all booked, we had no other choices. We will not be staying here again!!

When looking for accommodation in Venice, I wanted wifi, breakfast and close to the train station. This hotel covered all three boxes but also we could book a room with our own bathroom. Some hotels around this price bracket didn't. We found the reception staff friendly and helpful, breakfast wasn't extensive but good value. Wifi is generally only available in the lobby. Tap water in Italy is safe to drink so we refilled our bottles in the hotel room. Our room was on the top floor, they have a porter service but we were fine to carry our own bags up. Our room was clean and had a fridge and hair dryer. We had a decent view. We really liked the location of this hotel. So unless you want to pay hundreds of dollars a night at a chain hotel, give this hotel a chance. Great location, and you aren't going to be in your room much in Venice and what you need in a room this place offers. We would stay here again if we visit Venice again because we felt safe, it was clean and excellent location as about a 2 min walk to train station and one minute walk to ferry stop. Rooms were fairly sound proof, we both slept well. Venice is expensive so we felt we got good value for money staying here.
