“Small hotel in great location”
Reviewed 25 June 2014

The Hotel Le Isole has only 12 rooms, each different in size and view. It's a 2 minute walk to St. Mark's Square, and also a two minute walk to the valporetta, which is a water taxi to and from the airport and cruise port (15 euros one way).
The staff is wonderful and helpful. The free breakfast is a real treat with freshly made eggs, fruit, Italian pastries, cereal, coffee and tea. There is a courtyard at back which is private and is a lovely venue to take your breakfast. There is also free WiFi and minibar.
The problem is, because each room is set up differently, be careful which one you get. Ours was room 201, and there were issues. First was the WiFi in that room was spotty. It's L-shaped, and you had to sit on a chair close to the door to get any reception. You got no reception from your bed. The bathroom was microscopic. It had no vanity to put your toiletry items, and the shower was triangular, making it difficult to maneuver. There was also mold on the bottom of the shower. We also had two windows. One looked over a canal and was lovely, but the other one faced a bridge and anyone on it could see right into the room.
The size of the hotel and amenities comes with a premium price, and was probably worth it in a different room. It's the only reason Le Isole didn't get 5 stars.

Room Tip: Avoid Room 201.

We loved Le Isole. Elena(so?), charmingly and efficiently presided over a great breakfast spread, the desk is top notch and the location great. Our room looked out directly on a canal. The room was small but well appointed, offering free wi-Fi and minibar. The bathroom smell mentioned in a previous review has been corrected. If we are lucky enough to return to Venice we will try to book the same room.

We stayed in this hotel for three nights in June. Upon checking in, we upgraded for two nights to the deluxe room for more space and comfort. The third night we were in the basic economy double. The rooms were clean, comfortable, provided free mini-bar and safe with comfortable beds and crisp linens. Our rooms overlooked the canal and we enjoyed hearing the gondola drivers singing their opera. Breakfast was the most extensive and delicious we experienced in a month of travel. Hotel itself is located five minutes from San Mark's Basilica, square and Doge's Palace as well as vaparetto stop. The staff are very service oriented and obtained and printed tickets for us for the Doge's palace tour. We would highly recommend this hotel and stay here again on our next trip to Venice.

We stayed for 4 nights in June 14. Hotel location is excellent, just 2/3 mins from San Zaccaria Alilaguana & Vaporetto stops. 4 Mins from St Marks Sq.
We had a standard room (no 212) on the first floor overlooking the courtyard where breakfast is served and encountered no noise whatsoever. The room was smallish (but what do you expect in central Venice), BUT still perfectly adequate. Modern Bathroom, super shower with great pressure and no issues with obtaining hot water. Mini Bar was complimentary as were coffee and biscuits in the dining area.
The hotel staff were friendly and on 3 of our 4 days we were offered a cooked breakfast as opposed to a continental style. Front desk staff were great in offering advice re where to eat etc.
Nice decor, very comfortable, brilliant location.
In summary, we would stay again and would recommend this hotel without hesitation based on our own experience.

Room Tip: We were in 212 on the first floor which overlooks the courtyard and experienced no noise whatsoever...

First, I was "on the bubble" with giving the hotel a Very Good vs. Excellent. The only reason is because it is small, and room selection, consequently, limited. As other reviewers note, this may not always work out for you, e.g., if the crowds are loud, or the weather and winds unfavorable. However, once you walk around Venice a lot, you'll realize this is probably more the norm than not, so I would give it only a small weight, depending on your expectations for the time spent in the hotel - which should be short in Venice!)

With that aside, we loved the room, the breakfasts, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, guiding us with obtaining tickets to avoid waits at the Doge Palace and St. Marks (and printing them for us after we purchased online), providing tickets to a wonderful concert by Interpreti Veneziani (outstanding), restaurant recommendations and just "walking around" suggestions. We would stay here again without question.

One other note - the iPhone map and Google Maps do not locate this hotel correctly. See if you can get good directions (or map from the hotel) before starting your short walk from the San Zaccaria vaporetto stop.

Room Tip: We had a lovely room with a street view from the 2nd floor. Over 3 nights we stayed, only one night...

We were only in Venice one night, so we wanted to stay somewhere very nice with a great location. This was certainly that. It is located only a few blocks from the main square in town and is in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Venice but the hotel is still very quiet and elegant inside. The breakfast in the morning -- wow. Our best breakfast of our two week trip. Very very nice with great service. The staff is friendly, and the room was very nice, and as said, the location is terrific. The hotel was rather pricey, but you get what you pay for. We were very pleased here.
