Owner description: For more than 10 years, for lovers of Italian food, we have been offering a unique opportunity to participate in small groups in a hands-on cooking experience in the peace of an historic Venetian Villa of the 15th century. Meeting point is in Venice: Piazzale Roma, Tronchetto Parking or at the airport. The local women of Veneto will share Countess Maria's cooking philosopy, her traditional techniques, special ingredients, and family recipes. And you'll enjoy your creation "a tavola" for lunch, together with the best Italian wines of the region. We use fresh products like the vegetables of our garden, the eggs of our chicken for making pasta, and the best products of the day that we find on the local market. Programs are offered from March to December. Our daily classes begin at 10:30 and end at around 14:30, including lunch with d.o.c. Italian wines. In the afternoon, you can enjoy food and wine traditions of Veneto taking part in our optional excursions and wine & food tasting tours. Our programs are flexible. We can customize them according to your wishes and the activities you prefer. Send us an enquiry to get your program and rates.

As a gift to my mom for her 60th birthday, and as a way for us to spend some much needed mother/daughter time together, my mom and I attended Maria's Course in May. We stayed at Maria's beautiful Tenuta Castel Venezze, and did the 4-day cooking class, which is really 4 nights of accommodation and 3 days of cooking, plus a visit to a winery and a local salami factory.

We made all kinds of pasta from scratch, ravioli, tortellini, & lasagna, we made gnocchi, and risotto... we made rabbit, and chicken, and saltimbocca... and well the list goes on. It was all so wonderful and Maria and her staff (including Mario, the sommelier) are great.

The atmosphere of Tenuta Castel Venezze is casual and relaxed. The grounds are beautiful and although it's large it feels as if you're staying in someone's home. There were only a few other guest there at the time (we were the only ones participating in the cooking classes), and it was nice share our days efforts in the kitchen with the other guests at dinner each night.

By the end of the third day I was so full, I hardly needed to eat anything for the rest of our trip!

I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking to learn about authentic and traditional Italian cooking.

My twelve year old daughter and I stayed at Maria's beautiful villa for three nights and participated in two cooking classes. We both had a wonderful time. We learned how to make homemade pasta including tortellini and lasagna, and a truly amazing tiramisu. We also cooked stuffed chicken and a turkey cutlet in a to die for orange reduction....and much more. The wines accompanying the dishes were lovely and the instruction was hands on and relaxed. Maria is a wonderful, knowledgeable lady who had much to share. The villa grounds were beautifully maintained, and playing cards out on the veranda was truly heaven. Both of us enjoyed the pool as well. Bring a swimsuit and towel, as well as cards if you wish. This was a wonderful finale to a busy trip in Venice and Cinque Terra. If you enjoy a beautiful and relaxed surrounding, with sumptuous food, this is for you!

There were 6 of us: 3 adults, 3 teenaged boys. It was great in that Maria and her staff knew how to keep the different levels of experience occupied and engaged. I would not recommend this for children under 12 because the kitchen can be crowded and there's lots of hot surfaces/pans. The staff was patient, good humored, and very helpful. No matter what level of skill you have in the kitchen, there is something to learn. And then we get to eat the results! It was a highlight of our trip.

We had an enjoyable time cooking with Maria and her staff. We laughed and communicated even though we spoke very little Italian. Luckily, Maria spoke excellent English. The food was fresh and easy enough to make that we are planning on hosting an Italian dinner when we get home.

We had a wonderful cooking holiday at the country estate of Countess Maria Giustinani. Maria is a charming hostess and very helpful. We stayed at the main house on the estate. The rooms are large, nicely furnished and include modern ensuite bathrooms with excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water. We cooked most days and dined on the results at lunch. I particularly enjoyed the pasta lessons. In addition to the cooking classes we visited wineries, vinyards, and restaurants. A highlight was our visit to the fishing town of Chioggia where we had a delicious lunch at La Taverna Ristorante da Nadia and Felice. The estate is surrounded by fields, and we saw pheasants, haries, and herons on our morning walks. It is quiet in the evenings, and we could see the stars clearly at night. Can't wait to go again.
