This was our first night staying in the hotel and after an early start felt it best to eat in.
We weren't disappointed! We booked a table on the terrace overlooking the Grand Canal which was lovely and watching the 'high street' of Venice go by early evening in June was great fun.
Yes, occasionally you get a pong from the canal but it isn't too bad. The food was exceptional and quite distinctive. The chef has a very light delicate touch and you can tell the ingredients used are of the highest quality and very fresh.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful and all spoke good English which was a relief as our Italian is at best poor! We started with the tuna tarte and smoked beef which were a delight. Our mains were just as good, tagliolini with black squid ink and tagliatelle with duck ragout.
The waiter advised us on the wine selection which was spot on and it wasn't the most expensive wine on the extensive list.
We shared a dessert as the portions before were ample - just right. Can't report any faults with the food, setting or the service!
Cost - not cheap but Venice isn't cheap anyway. We spent about 180 euros including tip so at the top end for a meal out but very good quality so well worth it!
