The owner of property (giorgio) was very helpful and a great host. Took myself and two teenagers out in his boat for a trip around lagoons and off-beat areas and made several recommendations (took your advice re Burano-gorgeous!). Lots to do and see . Great little pub nearby- The Irish Bar, dont be put off by name ,run by locals with great snacks and friendly relaxed atmosphere

The location is fantastic and the apartment is feels like a home. It was even nicer than I expected. The kitchen is totally equipped and we had fun cooking our own meals. Although you might want to bring along your own sharp knife :) True- you need to go outside to use wifi- but it did work perfectly well on my smartphone. Highly recommended.

This accommodation was everything we could hope for. The location is away from the high density tourist areas and was close to everything we needed for our stay. The grocer was close by and it had the standard provisions so that we could self cater. The WIFI was spotty but we enjoyed going outside and sitting by the canal to read our emails. We really got a feel for what it must be like to be a resident in Venice. One of our favorite stops on our trip.

My friend and I are two senior women and the apartment was great for us. The Carnereggio district is a lovely peaceful residential neighborhood, with real people, away from the crowds, the Ca d'Oro Vaporetto stop (a short ride to the Rialto), useful shopping, good neighbohood restaurants, canal-side eating, drinking and walking. The owners live upstairs, are readily available, and are very helpful. The apartment is on the ground floor along a canal, impeccably clean and spacious for 2 people - it could easily accomodate small family. It's furnished with things real people would have in their houses. The kitchen is fully equipped and you could easily cook all your meals there. The owners had thoughtfully equipped it with basics (coffee, milk, fruit, cookies) to tide you over until you have a chance to shop. (There is an excellent supermarket a short distance away). There is a bedroom with a double bed, a comfortable sofa bed and an abundant supply of linen. The bathroom is small but adequate. There are nice breezes from the canal that keep the apatment cool which is lovely at night. the only downside, if it is one, is that with the windows open you hear the canal traffic and school children in the morning. But it's a nice alarm clock.
The only negative thing we encountered in Venice - not in any way connected to the apartment or its owners - were several instances of sharp practice in buying and paying for things. This is a shame since it is such a lovely city.

We spent ages looking for the right accommodation to suit our needs for our weeks stay in Venice. The location was paramount as we wanted to be well away from the tourist catchment areas but to be able to access those area's as and when we wanted.
The apartment had to be ground floor as I have limited mobility and for it to be reasonably spacious and without saying reasonable priced.
On my first inquiry to Giorgio. explaining my specific needs I received a full and honest reply from Giorgio confirming that apartmentPalazzo Lesse would suit us perfectly well.
The booking was done via email, no deposit required it was as easy as that.
We chose to arrive by Alilaguna which dropped us off at Fondamenta Nuove. The trip was around 20mins.and cost 25 euros per person for a return trip. From there it is a 5min walk to Palazzo Lezze, However it took us over an hour thanks to wrong advice from a well meaning local.... we ended up ringing Giorgio and he kindly guided us to the apartment over the phone.... what ever did we do before the mobile phone.
We met Di Di who showed us where every thing was regarding the apartment, extra towels etc.
Once on our own we collected our thoughts and the first thing the English do is make a cup of tea it was so nice to have tea bags already in the apartment.... but sadly no milk.
Our first impression of the apartment was it was larger than we had expected which was a great plus in its favour. The apartment was presented well.. very tidy and a decent standard of cleanliness. Bathroom was compact but not crammed... the bath was tiny with an adequate over the bath shower which worked well for us just one slight negative here, we thought the towels put out for our use were a little tired and maybe needed retiring. However, we over came that by going to the linen cupboard and exchanging them..so no problem .Kitchen had all you needed plenty of cooking utensils and pots and pans etc enough to make hot meals whenever you wished, but no grill for the healthy eaters among us.
The bedroom has a huge bed and its very comfy indeed, we had arranged for my friend to have the pull out bed however the double bed was big enough for us to share without encroaching in each others personal space- so we didn't use the pull out bed in the lounge. We both had an issues with a resident mozzi so the mozzi zapper is worth requesting in April.
The location was just amazing I can't say enough about it .... it was a little piece of heaven. With the windows open you could hear the chatter of people passing and the gentle chugging of all manner of boats going about there every day business on the canal outside.....just magical.
We stayed in the Cannaregio region most of the time as it has a great charm and character all of its own. However if the tourist route is your thing then that's within easy walking or hop on a water boat to all the big sights.
We visited the Jewish Ghetto which is around an 8min walk from the apartment depending on whether you have a Spritz stop on the way (Apperol Spritz is a Venetian secret cocktail, gorgeous it ranges from 1.50 to 4 euros each depending on where you are) .The Ghetto isn't open on Saturdays and be warned the tour consists of visiting 4 synagogues all situated at the top floor of four separate buildings, so if you are not fleet of foot do the museum instead.
Santa Maria DEI Miracoli is worth a visit open 10-5pm 3 euros stunning church.
Thank you Giorgio and Di Di for letting us share in your delightful apartment in such a charismatic area. Arrivederci for now.
